He was very upset and crying on the bench because he was not receiving playing time. Apparently, he was also being a little aggressive with teammates. I don’t blame him. 4 Kentucky players fouled out, and he was still sitting on the bench. Players on the court weren’t playing very well either.
He freaked out about his playing time at the end of the UK v UNC game while sitting on the bench.
Here is his apology:
Feels like Cam went in with a different impression of how it would go. A lot of recruits don’t think this way, but if you’re the 68th recruit going to play at Kentucky… you shouldn’t expect to play a ton since they’re probably gonna bring in 5-6 guys higher-rated than you plus transfers and a returner or two.
And Cal is usually really good at managing those issues.
Second year in a row he’s had to basically jettison a freshman at this point right?
I was thinking of Khalil Whitney not Hagans.
Yeah, it seems like his model is falling apart a bit. Feel like UK attrition has really accelerated as kids are more willing to leave college and make small-time European money. Only one returner this year (who hasn’t even played a game yet). Causing a lot of chemistry issues as you have to bring in 8-10 new kids every year…
Extremely mildly, and spent more time discussing his “love” for Hagans. This is unique for Cal:
Just a thought–and I am in no way qualified to do it myself–but it would be marvelous if someone who’s following closely posted the day’s games here or somewhere. I’m not happy with games in fan-free arenas, but I’m finding it a lifeline sometimes to watch hoops after another depressing news day.
Now, Kyle Tucker of The Athletic is reporting that there’s more dissension within the team, which could lead to more departures.
According to Tucker, “Sources close to the program indicate Calipari is currently in a power struggle with multiple other key players on this roster.”
Tucker also added that, “There might be more departures, and Calipari might welcome that at this point.”
Interesting. Losing his mojo, maybe?
That sure would be a bummer if Kentucky slipped. I would be so sad.
Not me. The old saying “you make your own bed” so to speak fits the UK situation perfectly. IMO
Me neither. Just being snarky.
I will say that it would be quite disappointing if Kentucky does fall off a cliff in regards to Michigan having primetime matchups scheduled with them over the next few years.
Completely understand your sentiment, but 3-0 against BBN would rock.
I agree. But 3-0 against a functional BBN would be much more preferred over 3-0 against a UK team that is a mess.
Yes; always better to beat the best at their best.
I’ve watched people say that about “The Game”- just win baby!
