SECN+, so I’m using WatchESPN

I know it’s better to be underrated than overrated, but if Cinci pulls that off I am going to insist that Michigan take Tennessee’s spot at #12.

Had no idea this was on. Long live NCAA Bball streams reddit for allowing to watch random SEC Network games.

Not many of us would deny that the system–both the current one and the wider one–is riddled with contradictions. But it’s not only obvious that it can’t remain this way, but shifting whether the NCAA or we like it or not. I would love it if amateurism prevailed, but the gross inequities between schools, indeed between players, have existed from the beginning. Many people know, for example, that players on a lot of the best early college football teams were more or less professionals, too.

My point–my only point–was that the fact that they’re being scheduled around to make money for schools underlines that they are in fact workers.

DeJulius is a beast too bad he transferred. Averages 6 rebounds and 5 assists through his first 3 games and in the game today has 7 assists.

Ah, the 'ole 3 second long 5 second violation steals a possession from Cincy.

Really good defense by DDJ

Garbage UNC (Iowa hasn’t proven anything yet) down 17-8 to UNC Central early. I’m sure they’ll win comfortably, but I really hate their roster.

I don’t think I’ve seen a more comical/obvious charge than 33 just did for Cincy. How could he possibly think that would work lol

Also has 11 points on 14 shots. Definitely showing pretty well as a playmaker tho

Gonzaga has plenty of resources. So do Creighton and Butler, both are in the big east. Creighton averages top 5 in attendance in every year. And were even implicated somewhat in the Adidas scandal IIRC. So would not be surprising if they are paying players under the table.

The easiest solution to the dilemma you are raising is just to let them make money off their image and likeness like literally any person in America is allowed to do

I don’t think there’s been a moment when the schedule hasn’t been designed to maximize profits for the networks and the schools. The fact that this year its on Christmas is what’s upsetting some people.

It wouldn’t change my opinion on anything, but I am interested to know what other players around the conference think about it. If Andy Katz is right and players (or more likely, a committee of players) were consulted and signed off on it, that would be good info to have.

+1. Most obvious, easiest to implement, and no Title IX legal hoops to jump through. Do that, work with the NBA to get rid of the one and done rule, and the NCAA is in a much better place than it is today. Well, maybe not in terms of their pocket books, but from an ethical perspective.

Northwestern tried that.

Gonzaga, Creighton and Butler have resources now. They didn’t when they broke through. There’s a reason those two schools were invited to join the Big East. They are examples of how small schools, with limited resources, can build programs and compete with schools that write checks.

This is the right solution IMO.

I also endorse NIL as the best and easiest solution

Yeah, well it has to more than one or even a handful of schools. It’s tough to organize when the players don’t stay long/
