ND to cover, but MSU to win
MSU covers easily IMO.
I would think MSU wins by 12-18 points. ND not looking too promising this year.
How on earth is Jalen Coleman-Lands still playing in college? He was a recruit in the same class as Matt McQuaid and Caleb Swanigan. I had no idea he was at Iowa State now. He’ll probably use his extra COVID year of eligibility next year to play his 7TH COLLEGE BASKETBALL SEASON at the age of 25. Like what…
You must have missed the discussion about his transfer recruitment in the spring…
At the under 8:00 timeout, Richmond 58 Kentucky 46. Kentucky with 0 made 3 pointers so far.
Richmond going to win this one pretty comfortably… great example of how important experience is at this level.
…and shooting.
Well, how important not being able to make a shot is but Richmond is shooting 83% at the rim. That comes down to a team that just isn’t mature enough and experienced enough to know what it takes to defend at this level against a well-coached offense.
Calipari had a pretty bizarre interview a few days ago that made me think they lost the game until I looked up the score. Can’t imagine what he’ll say after this one.
36% eFG?? Gross
Kentucky’s main offense was throw the ball at the rim and go get it. Reminded me of some of Izzo’s earlier squads.
Also, for those concerned with Dug McDaniel and his defense, Richmond 5-8 point guard Jacob Gilyard’s defense against Kentucky was elite with 5 steals. I see Dug as a similar defender, just with better shooting.
Kentucky is going to need BJ Boston to take steps forward knocking down shots from 3. Also need to probably use Davion Mintz and Dontaie Allen more because those 2 are both above average shooters. Nobody else really screams competent shooter from deep to me. Maybe Askew and Isaiah Jackson can be a low 30% shooter from 3.
Kentucky will figure it out though. That team is ridiculously talented and have tremendous defensive upside as a team.
Very possibly due to no crowds? Nba bubble had a pretty big shooting explosion IIRC
Could also be lack of practice leading to worse defense, where communication is probably more key than on offense where you can always give the ball to your best player and have them make a play.
As for FT shooting, no crowd noise probably makes sense. Also lack of established team practices probably meant a lot more individual workout time so probably more FT practice there as well.
Anyone watching the Maui Invitational? Some good games, but having Walton and Bennetti in separate locations makes the normally unruly telecast even more untethered. Still entertaining at times, but tough to follow at others.
Shaka Smart ready to disappoint once again. In a tight game with Davidson in their second game of the year.
Don’t really understand how they were preseason top 25. I know they’ve recruited well under Smart, but all they had incoming was Brown and he hasn’t finished better than .500 in conference play since his first year at Texas.
Davidson is pretty good.
As for Texas, they returned everyone. Kenpom and Torvik had them as preseason top 5
