College Basketball 2023-24 Discussion

Buyout seems small?

I’m tripping, I thought Dusty was making $1.3 million at Michigan not $3.75 million… I was so confused why people thought it was a good deal

I’m a little surprised they’re going to owe him 95% of it no matter what. Though I guess at that price it’s not that big of a financial hit if you have to fire him.

his new Charleston contract from last March guaranteed $6 million

I mean… those 12 days are worth ~$75k. No frame of reference for how any other coaching contracts work but definitely feels like an amount worth an asterisk.

Nice hire.

My guy Jerrod Calhoun supposedly in the mix at Utah State :eyes:

Is James Madison that much of a promotion?

yeah, their athletic program is thriving. Tons of money being invested. probably getting a very large raise. Sun Belt, which has some very large public schools in it, is at least a tier above the OVC for sure, who’s lost stalwarts Murray State and Belmont recently and is probably a bottom 5 conference now

Forgot murray and Belmont bolted. Makes sense now

Loll imagining a 19 year old kid on a Friday afternoon listening to this speech 10 minutes after meeting the guy and 8 months before your first game

Step up but doesn’t feel like a monster leap.

My new favorite coach after 20 minutes of basketball.

Kelsey taking the job and saying “well I was my wife’s third choice, and that’s worked out pretty well” is pretty funny

  1. They drop bags and provide escorts. We (probably) don’t do much of either.
  2. Being able to read isn’t necessarily a prerequisite for their recruits.

honestly I think the contract makes Louisville fair game for poverty accusations

it’s probably an unstable ACC thing as much as the Louisville admin itself, but we are paying Dusty almost $10 million more in raw salary alone
