I used to be one of those people, but respect due already.
also, last year, arkansas wasnât the worldâs greatest 4 seed or anything but there were some fascinating ref decisions that led to chet fouling out in 23 minutes. i just went back and rewatched the fouls and got mad all over again!
I have nothing against Gonzaga really. I think it is insane that some tiny school in the middle of no where found a way to become a basketball powerhouse that gets all the top playersâŚbut I donât hate them.
I think the narrative is that their 1-seeds are a function of their trash conference schedule and that gets them an advantage come march that they wouldnât have if they had to play the quality of opponent in the bigger conferences. That doesnât mean they arenât good really, it just means they got an advantage.
As with most narratives, thereâs some truth but also some exaggeration to it
In their 4 most recent years as a 1 seed they won 15 games. As of 2021,1 seeds average 3.36 wins (so 13.44 over 4 tournaments). I think thatâs a good enough body of work to justify heir seeds.
I know what youâre saying about going 15-1 in a bad conference. But if they were in the Big Ten those 15-1 type Gonzaga teams would still be pushing for conference titles and 1 seeds.
Yup, I agree. Gonzaga team was loaded in the last two seasons. They wouldâve been good enough to win B1G. They have lottery picks with elite players plus quality role players surrounding them makes a very tough team to beat in any given day.
It wouldâve been interesting to see Diabate/Chet and Timme/Hunter matchup in the frontcourt. However, Gonzaga wouldâve run circle against Michigan perimeter defenders with the exception of Eli with the guard/wing players.
Duke loses by 22 at Miami. Ya just hate to see it.
First time Iâve seen each team. Couldnât tell if Miami is really good (aggressive and experienced) or Duke is bad (soft and young).
Miami is one acc team I do like a lot though
Miami (30)
Ohio State (35)
North Carolina (36)
Duke (37)
makes me want to cancel my KP sub until next year
I said this last year too, but I cannot believe Marcus Carr is still playing CBB. Actually wild to me. Every time I watch him he seems like the exact same player he was 3(2?) years ago when he was with Minnesota.
wait, what? he is?! I havenât paid attention to much cbb this year outside of mich (too depressing) but I had no idea he was still at texas(?)
Yeah and he can STILL hit a super sh!tty crossover step back 3. It looks just as bad, and it still goes in just like when he was in Minny. Crazy.
Unc and OSU played basically to a stand still on a neutral court. He nailed it!
One of the smaller sample sizes for Michigan⌠but interestingâŚ
41 minutes played
I like the lineup, but that stat isnât something you should use to justify the lineup.
40 minutes would be a full game, no? So shouldnât that be like 50-70 possessions? What am I missing
I was just going off of thisâŚOK â sorry I misread the lineup.
I guess it is closer to that number:
Either way, it is a very small sample IMO. Mostly just says that Michiganâs offense played really well against Purdue when the starters were in, which we knew.
Iâm into trying Baker as a starter. Which forward sits? Twill probably. Though I also liked the idea of Jett coming off the bench, if that could be managed to not cut into his minutes. He needs to be out there, and the defense is getting better.
I donât see this as something that will happen or makes sense at all.
Baker is really in the perfect role. If he keeps making shots in this role, it is a good thing.
