What IS that worth? If we’re still on that pace in late February, but the defense is still in the kenpom adjusted 80s, that would make for an interesting discussion.
Not to get too political but my political views align with the KenPom party (I love KenPom)
That block was so clean.
I think recruiting post post bangers like Hunter may be a sound strategy rather than your prototypical jumping jack pick and roll finisher. Like, we’re seeing in real time the OAD risk is pretty minimal. They’re not all bad at D either (Kofi certainly wasn’t)
Seems like somebody gave him the impression he could transfer and play this year, and now he’s gotten the correct info that he can’t.
Also the old NIL shakedown trick.
Ha, of course. We recruited you based on NIL. You can’t back out of our agreement.
I mean I think I’m rabidly pro-player-empowerment on this stuff but yeah, I think he needs to accept that if he’s taking money he can’t leave mid-season without playing a game and…keep the money.
“$50 per box-out, coach. And it’s $100 per game if we press more than 5 times.”
I mean it’s just basically a salary
If he leaves the team he doesn’t get to keep making it
And that’s where things are gonna be interesting moving forward. The 2023 class is the first that was with full nil. Gonna be interesting what kind of contacts these kids sign when they try to transfer
From what I heard this was the inverse. He was set to leave because he hadn’t seen any of the money he was promised in the offseason. Seems that’s been solved.
Either way, a tricky lil chicken or the egg situation of: we’re paying you to play here, but you haven’t played yet here vs. you’re paying me to be here, but you haven’t paid me
The thought of some booster calling up the coach to complain that the guy he owes NIL money to isn’t coming back from his injury fast enough is about as icky as it gets. Or Adams was doing it on his own (Dylan mentioned the Shannon) thing, who knows.
There are so many scummy people out there and a few of them are either running NIL deals or in positions of power that there is bound to be some bad situations…especially when these are 17 year old kids with unclear representation and no organized body looking out for them. I have mixed feelings on pro sports unions, but there’s some level of protection and balance offered from them.
So basically our first nil holdout
Aw yeah! Grades are in and the vacation has begun…
Any future Pistons I should watch for? (Cam Whitmore and Jarace Walker are on the list.)
That’s a great slate.
Brandon Miller from Bama
Is Brandon Miller just Jabari Smith 2.0?
