College Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

Recently read an article about how Pac12 TV renegotiations are going…not well. I wonder if that plays a role here with Hopkins and Haase at Stanford. Doesn’t seem like there is a lot going on for either of those programs.

I actually think Few has underachieved pretty hard in the tourney for the talent. If you go pull some of those rosters they were really talented and always choked. I always forget how many good/ fun players they had. They had some stacked teams and players.

Lots of amazing bigs.

Daye, Harris, Kelly, Sacre, Sabonis, Turiaf ,Batista, Heyvelt ( kid should have been so good), Rui , tillie, krawnoski etc.

Some really good teams.

Hard to say if they’ve underachieved in the tourney or been overseeded. The Zags are obviously very good but I think a lot of their teams with gaudy records would have gotten beat up in a real conference.

I thought snuff films were illegal, but Bama/A&M is right here on my tv

Guess you win a game with an 85% fg% in the first half, you lose one shooting 24% in the first half

They had a string a decade ago where they had some tourney struggles but especially if you include recent years you’re gonna have a hard time making an argument they’re underperforming at all, much less severely underperforming.

If you want to say they have an easy time because their conference so they get to the tournament and struggle l(which is crazy considering they’ve been to 7 second weekends in a row) you can just as easily argue it’s a disadvantage for them because they go like 2 months with only a couple meaningful games

Idk guys. I’m digging this version of Johns. It’s more than comp/ position.

He looks good. Not sure if being under a smaller spotlight or a fresh start was the key but they unlocked the best version of Bj jr that we only caught random glimpses of.

He calmly canned that three after regrouping. He’s moving his feet well on d and showing the passing / dribbling we saw in high school.

Does he have a sixth year? Let’s bring him back

He still drops the shoulder too much in the post though. Offensive foul/ chair pull still a threat .

Zeb is in.

Always loved Holmes on Dayton. Frankie, Ty Ty , and Holmes was a stacked high school team.

Johns has been doing well all year. Looks like a different player. I really hope VCU holds on and gets the win and make the tournament. Would like to see John’s and Jackson have a go at higher competition on the big stage.

They’re a decent team. They have some choice athletes who can get to the rim

How my teams went out this year in conference tourney:

Michigan - score 1 basket in first 19 mins of 2nd half

DePaul - blow 5 point lead with 4 mins left after leading all game

Dayton - No made FGs for last 10 minutes turning a 1 point lead into 12 point loss. Also leading almost the entire time until that point

College basketball is pain

Wish we could pry away someone like Holmes.

Find a way to steal Holmes and Cleveland> profit?

Can someone tell me why we didn’t go after Keion Brooks?

You forgot MSU. They were primed to make a run.

Keion Brooks was a mediocre player for a bad basketball team that let him take a ton of shots. I’m sure he wanted his next team to feature him

I think it’s absolutely a disadvantage come tournament time. Probably not as applicable this year since they aren’t quite as good but when you go 2+ months heading into the tournament without seeing an opponent that can challenge you and then all of a sudden you have to beat 3 or 4 really good teams in a row … Really tough

I liked Turiaf. It was around the Adam Morrison time when I started to sour on them, though not because he cried when they lost. That, I appreciated. Austin “Some” Daye being a weak Piston didn’t help.
