Cleveland Cavaliers hire John Beilein

We’re inevitably going to lose some recruits here. It is what it is. The most important thing is finding the right coach for the future.

We only have 3 recruits right now, two of them are set to enroll soon I assume. If either Bajema or Wilson leaves then we could be coming in with 10 or 11 scholarship players.

I’m sure I’ll be criticized for saying this, though I don’t mean any offense, it is the world we live in these days. For a man who is so honest and ethical, so above board, this is upsetting and disappointing news. Coach B is an honorable man, so I’m going to assume this was done in an honorable way, and in a way that we can continue to be proud of Coach B. But what a way for our players and recruits to wake up on a Monday morning in May.

I am sure there are some long faces and probably some broken hearts in AA this morning, among players, managers, recruits, assistant coaches, boosters, ushers, everyone associated with the program, but I’m just not going to mourn any longer. I’m going to wish JB good luck and hope for the very BEST of a difficult situation. I’m going to buckle up and get ready for what the future brings to a program I’ve supported for nearly 60 years through good times and bad.

There is never an easy way to leave in this setting. Lots of people will be upset. I’m sure he has handled it with grace and class behind the scenes. The hardest part is the news breaking before he could talk to the team. That’s on the Cavs’ organization. Beilein hasn’t operated in that world and should’ve known better but things happen fast.

My brain to scrambling to find words right now.

We’re already at only 11 scholarship players BEFORE either of those guys leave. If one of them does and they’re recruiting for 6 open spots next year this shop could sink really fast

More stunning that the departure itself is that the team found out exactly the same way we found out. If true, that is just not right.

So then Rick Pitino it is! (He was semi-exonerated during the recent trial, so maybe that splash hire placates all fan factions? :innocent:)

Woj might have known that Beilein was going to the NBA before Beilein did. That’s just kind of how it works. Also, most players aren’t on campus right now.

Yeah, getting mad at Beilein over the players finding out like that is odd. They call them Woj bombs for a reason. The article says Beilein told the university this morning, Woj tweeted at like 8:30, that doesn’t leave much time to call players.

why is it assumed Wichita is dirty?

Wasnt Fred Van Vleet was implicated as dirty and was from Witch state under Marshall?

I see many opportunities here to start a coaching carousel starting with Coach Beard from Texas Tech being at the top of my list. Some may not fit the Michigan standard, but what the heck go for it, don’t merely bring up an assistant and destroy what has been built over the last 12 years. Michigan needs a big name their program is worth it. How about a Gregg Marshall, Bruce Pearl, at this point I don’t care if they brought in Chris Holtmann or Rick Pitino. Alright, okay I won’t go overboard on the Pitino comment but how about his son from Minnesota? Go big or go home Michigan.

And yeah guys, I’m on vacation – in Barcelona right now – but will have some thoughts posted soon.

Absolutely in shock, I cannot believe this.

I’m pretty sure the fanbase would revolt if Richard Pitino was named coach.

This would be my list in this order…Juwan Howard, Billy Donovan, Jay Wright, then Jordan/Washington/Yak. (Still a work in progress)
