Well, the one thing about those two is they were both fans of Michigan, not just Beilein. Bajema’s dad was a Michigan fan and passed that on to his son, and Wilson’s mom named him after Jalen Rose, right?

I’m listening to the podbean podcast of Sam’s show. He and Ira are completely shocked. The news broke while they were on the air and you could hear the shock and dismay in their voices.
I, too, have been a HUGE fan and supporter of Coach B, and I’m shocked, too. But, you know what, I’m ready to move on. John Beilein made his choice. Good luck to him. Now let’s go out and hire the best coach we can find.
And I do appreciate and thank Coach B for bringing this program back to prominence!
Edit: Oh, my gosh, Phil from Atlanta just called in to Sam’s show. Sam and Ira can’t believe it. Ira is irate! He hung up on him. Said, “Call back tomorrow, not today, Phil!” In case you don’t follow Sam and Ira on the Michigan Insider on WTKA, Phil is the notorious Beilein basher they’ve had to contend with for some time, though he hasn’t called in In over a year.

Yep both love Michigan. I strongly strongly assume they stay. I just felt bad given the timing, especially after this happened last year.

Meh, if the grandkids were a real factor, being able to see them literally everyday if you so chose is more valuable than a month off work.
What we found out from this decision is that JB just hated college basketball and wanted to try the challenge of the NBA (even if the opportunity was a guaranteed failure). Those are the only two factors here.

Man, this is so devastating. Gut wrenching really. JB is my favorite coach of all time and he brought us such an enjoyable era of hoops… it’s almost impossible to imagine a future without him coaching.
I hope we keep it civil here though. He only has a few years left and wanted to try his craft at the highest level. I’m happy for him. It’s such a huge loss for us though

Totally devastated and speechless and in complete shock. This will be Warde Manuels biggest decision thus far. Let’s hope it won’ be another Ellerbe or Kevin Ollie. Would JB take Luke Yaklich along with him?
