Why is Beilein even playing him? Do the players really have that much power?
You would think K Love would take some pride in his professional reputation but I canāt see how looking completely clueless as to what he was supposed to be doing could be taken positively. The play at the end of the half was waiting on his action and he was entirely out of the game.
I think he was ignoring the action because he wanted to post Chris Paul instead
FWIW, random neutral people on Reddit seemed to think that Love was pissed at Tristan Thompson here. It looks like Beilein is trying to direct him to set the screen and heās clueless and just randomly stands out of bounds.
Watching these clips of Cleveland makes me want to join the Cavs: I am pretty tall, good at walking around, and can stand motionless with the best of them. JB might also appreciate the fact that I respect him. Direct message me JB. Maybe we can work something out.
Hereās reality. Love wants to win and he thinks the young guys, especially Sexton, stink. Itās has to be hard to try and compete every night when the young guys keep getting opportunities when they canāt do much of anything. I understand itās his job to compete but when there is no accountability for crappy play (still getting playing time) then you know things are going nowhere. Love wants to be traded and this isnāt helping his cause. Beilein knew he was in a tough spot going in and this is certainly testing him.
I suspect thatās not necessarily ārealityā, but rather just your personal assessment.
If Love really wanted to win, he shouldnāt have signed an extension with the Cavs. It was blatantly obvious post-Lebron that this was a rebuilding project. Since he chose to re-sign there rather than go to a winning franchise, he needs to suck it up and act like a professional.
I donāt subscribe tot his. Love, if he really wants to win, should be a leader trying to help the young guys learn the NBA game and push his team forward. The reality is Love wants to be traded to be a piece on a contender and make ridiculous money. It doesnāt work out for everyone. He had a great run being Lebronās third wheel and now heās in full diva mode without ever leading a team to anything significant. Heās a clown.
By the standards of 99.99 percent of the planet, heās already made ridiculous coin. Which is one reason why sympathy will be in short supply. And itās hard to see how on-court temper tantrums make him appealing to other teams.
Love is waging an anti-charm campaign to get traded - he also spent the post-game personally insulting Kobe Altman. Iām not sure how much this is a Beilein issue as much as it is Love trying to squeak loud enough to be dealt.
Love is trying to drive down his trade value to make the team he gets traded to stronger.
Just another reminder of why I loathe the NBA.
Counterpoint: This if the kind of thing that makes the NBA MORE entertaining. I donāt watch reality TV, soap operas or wrestling. As a basketball lover, I appreciate seeing the game being played at as high a level as it ever has in my lifetime. But it also fills my inherent human need for ādramaā in the petty sense of the term.
I mean, Iām still laughing about thisā¦
Wonder if Beileinās dream is still to coach in the NBA?
Brian at Mgoblog tweeted and then mentioned on their podcast (jokingly I hopeā¦) about Beilein coaching Indiana next year. Would be downright scary to think about that as a possibility for many reasons. And despite the fact that it might be tongue-in-cheek, you donāt have to squint too hard to see a scenario like that happening.
Please, no. Archie is perfectā¦ for other B1G fans. Notwithstanding that to see Beilein coaching at any college other than U-M would just break my heart.
Co-signed.
On the podcast, he said he was saying it out loud in order to jinx it, not because it has any legs whatsoever. A lot of Michigan people would be shocked if he takes another college job (though Iām sure they were also shocked when he left, soā¦).
If he doesnāt last the season, I wouldnāt be all that shocked to see him back in college. I could see him not wanting to leave coaching based on not even lasting one season in the NBA. Might want to leave on a brighter, more positive note. But if he makes it through at least part of next season with the Cavs, I could see him thinking, āwell I gave it my best shot and it didnāt work outā and retiring for good.
