Beilein and his family are super tight with Mike Gansey, Cleveland’s assistant GM. Also played Beilein at WVU

Hero Sports did an article last year putting together a list of possible replacements in case he left for the Pistons.
- LAVALL JORDAN
- LUKE YAKLICH OR SADDI WASHINGTON
- GREGG MARSHALL
- STEVE PROHM
- Eric Musselman
- Greg McDermott
Few others as well but these were the ones that made some level of sense.

Good for Coach B. From high school JV (or whatever it was) to the NBA. Absolutely incredible career. Wish he could have won a Natty before going, but couldn’t be happier for him.
As for Michigan’s next coach? Luke Yaklich.

Man, selfishly, it’s tough to take. But, best of luck to Coach Beilein as it appears that coaching an NBA team must be a dream of his and something he needs to do sooner than later (given his age) - I’ll be sad, but always root for him to be successful.
I’m really on board for giving Yaklich a shot too…

I think Howard would be temporary stop gap because I think he will also want an NBA team sooner than later…
