Cleveland Cavaliers hire John Beilein

If Beilein is dismayed by NCAA hypocrisy and recruiting corruption, what will he do when James Harden does this?

Beilein is the past. I want to hear about the future.

So I just played the video it took me right to :52 second mark. That step back is not a travel according to NBA rule. He gathered which means he got 0 step then did 2 steps before shooting.

[quote=ā€œumhoops, post:171, topic:5291, full:trueā€]I’m just saying that Woj operates in a level of connectedness that is mindblowing for people not in the NBA. Is Beilein supposed to tell his players before he tells the Cavaliers? How long after Beilein tells the Cavaliers does Woj know? 30 seconds?

Yeah, fair enough. I just think it’s a crappy way for the players to find out. Perhaps that’s unavoidable.

If part of Beilein’s reasoning behind leaving is related to general frustration with the college climate, then I can completely understand it. To not have to worry about your players bolting for the NBA, and about competing with crooks, would be refreshing. Beilein seems like a genuine guy who would be appreciated by NBA players, so he’ll hopefully be successful.

It’s dumb, but I really wanted him to win 300 games here. That just seems like a big milestone. He would have done it next year.

That’s extra steps, not hypocrisy and corruption. There’s a difference.

Yeah I have absolutely no clue how the enforcement of traveling is similar to a systematic culture of cheating.

I am going to need an NBA style Hard Knocks series out of HBO of Beilein coaching J.R. Smith.

Imagine Cleveland getting the third pick (not super unlikely) and picking RJ Barrett. Beilein’s first NBA experience including him, Sexton, and JR would be incredible TV.

Then LeBron comes back after LeBron Jr is drafted Number 1.

Pretty sure JR will be cut.

LOL if Jordan Poole drove him crazy…JR Smith might actually cause him emotional trauma

I’m having a hard time maintaining rationality about this - I realize it is stupid of me to wish Beilein lives in King’s Landing

I think JR is done in Cleveland…he pissed off the management team.

Thanks, that was so enlightening.

You guys take yourselves very seriously.

Cool, thanks for the note.

On the actual topic of the thread, Sam implied there is hesitancy towards Billy Donovan specifically because some (I don’t know who the hell has been there that long) in the athletic department remember the Al Horford recruitment and his reputation around those types of recruitments. Seems from the list on 247 that Michigan is looking for the best culture fit instead of the best coach. Some may agree with that method. I personally think that’s how you get Brady Hoke.
