Cleveland Cavaliers hire John Beilein

Dot’s note about the search committee is not very inspiring.

As I wrote this morning…

We’re boned. Porter Moser here we come. Ellerbe 2.0

The hero we deserve and need: Tom Crean.

Nothing Michigan loves to do more than destroy its own mens basketball program.

What a drama queen. Lol

Ahh good, it had been a whole 6 comments since we last got our dose of needless snark. I was getting worried about the state of the board

We are all weirdos who are obsessed with a college basketball team. The Michigan insider-sphere is very clearly pushing Porter Moser as the likely hire. He has a career .520 record and got fired at Illinois State. That would be an absolutely horrific hire.

It’s being realistic, not dramatic.

It’s also very early. All this info is based on info from last year. There’s not much insider info about this current search cause there’s no info out. If it’s Moser I’ll be incensed, but there’s no reason to resign to that now.

I don’t assume you’re one of those people who takes every opportunity to throw shade at the NBA–they can be a tiresome bunch. But I think we can assume that John is familiar with some of the criticisms. It wasn’t a very apt comparison.

It was meant to be a joke referencing the broader category of stuff that drives Beilein nuts, but I guess nobody got it.

If it’s Moser… I’m no longer a Michigan fan.

This site will be dead or all of us will turn into MatD and whine 24/7.

This place is currently like a live version of that Community gif where Donald Glover walks in and everything is on fire.

The weirdest thing about this is now JB will not go down as THE Michigan Coach. People were probably already penciling him as being the godfather of the program, naming the court after him, getting a statue, etc. That’s off the table now.

Yep that is all fucking over.

Is this the darkest timeline?

This is how I feel about Shaka Smart.

But does JB really care about Statues and his name of the floor. You do, he probably doesn’t. He cares about developing young men into great basketball players and winning games. He builds culture and we just spent the last 12 years enjoying the results of that process.

Sure, I think it’s clear that JB doesn’t care about his legacy at Michigan. From this decision, we see that he cares most about proving his coaching genius.

Man, we all get it. It stings that JB left. No one wanted him to go, but to put him in that light is unfair. He left for a BETTER job! It’s the fricken NBA. When a mid-major coach who has had success goes to a P5 school, it sucks but it is reasonable just as this is. JB did what was best for him and his family.

In a year or two when everyone’s emotions have chilled out on this, JB will only be looked at with fondness. He built a program, culture and did a lot for the university. Dont cast him as a villain who doesnt care about Michigan
