Big Ten Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

Yeah, if this is all accurate and structured like a real game the fact that Sissoko could stay on the court for 27 minutes is the first step. You could see where he could be an impact defender if he isn’t fouling at an absurd rate. Regardless, have to take that as a good development for them that they are competing with a team like Tennessee.

In almost every circumstance, I would suggest not jumping to any real conclusions from secret scrimmage reports.

I generally agree. However, I think it is possible to read into 27 minutes for Sissoko that at this point, he is likely significantly ahead in the race to start as MSU’s 5. Whether that’s good or bad, how he performed, and how MSU (and Tennessee) performed is hard to read from sketchy reports of a secret scrimmage, but who played lots of minutes does say something, especially when that guy hasn’t played lots of minutes heretofore.

Sure, Izzo also said the same thing at Media Day. So I don’t think that’s a big surprise.

It’s probably not, but I read even less into what coaches say at media day than I do into secret scrimmage reports.

Fair, my original post was just that you can’t make a leap to say well X happened which means Y. There oftentimes aren’t foul outs in these games, for example, so Sissoko playing 27 minutes wouldn’t necessarily mean he can play without fouling, etc.

Too late. MSU fans have already claimed victory for barely losing on the road to a top 10 team with out Hall or Akins. Kohler and Cooper are just that good, they dominated while on the court together

Photo evidence that Hall definitely played

Did they play without a foul limit?

Not only did Hall NOT play – Sissoko didn’t either. Which makes his performance in the game that much more impressive. I just hope we don’t get swept. Wish there were a mercy rule.

Yes I heard Sissoko played 27 minutes and wasn’t even in the lineup, that’s how much he’s improved at staying on the floor.

I’d also be interested if Tennessee is actually gonna be a top ten team. They’ll be able to D up…. But who’s creating shots on that roster?

So what your saying is we are going to have to wait until they play Gonzaga on an aircraft carrier before we can pass any judgement?

That little PG I assume. But yeah idk what to think of them. The computers love them but is Vescovi a guy you want as a best player on a top 10 team?

Shoutout to Purdue drawing 9 fouls on Nate Watson last year

Nebraska box score vs. Chadron State. Not sure I love a Big Ten offense dependent on Juwan Gary. Nebraska won by 27 but Chadron State (10-17 last season) had it within 6 early in the second half.
