Big Ten Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

Draymond averaged a 10/8/3 with a steal and a block per game. No coach in the nation would have recruited a transfer over him.

Valentine was an 8/6/4 on 38% three point shooting as the 5th option on offense.

Tillman was a 10/7 with a block and a steal per game and was their best defensive player.

None of these guys would be recruited over, anywhere.

This has been enjoyable. I hope that continues.

In the case of the people the tweet is referring to, they are pros. Joey Hauser is not going to have the same NBA career as the others. Glad Izzo is “sticking with his guys” instead of playing the portal.

Yeah I actually didn’t even look if he was actually starting, but I should’ve if I was making that claim. I was just speaking to the amount they were playing which was a lot. They were all big contributors. Draymond was 4th in MPG and FGA

Izzo says Hauser is looking like the player he originally thought he was getting from Marquette.

Nobody inspires like Thomas Izzo.

“Son, I’ve wasted three years on you, and by gum it’s time you finally paid me back for allowing you the honor of transferring here.”

I’m not sure anyone is even saying that MSU had to recruit “starters” over his current guys from the portal. They literally could have recruited “human basketball players” over “empty chairs” from the portal. No one says you need to find someone better than Hauser or Sissoko if you truly believe in them. The question is whether you should have found SOMEONE in case you need depth. Heck, maybe he could have recruited a player that would be the next development success story in their later years.

Such a myopic and self-serving answer…ESPECIALLY since two of his starters are literally transfers. What the heck man…does anyone point that out to him?

Can’t remember the exact phrasing but I seem to recall on the podcast the idea of hype like this being real vs. being hope. I feel like in the case of both Hauser and Wahl it feels like hope.

I still think Hauser can be an NBA guy. I was surprised his brother is on an NBA roster and was in the rotation.

Now that’s a take!

I don’t think Hauser can guard anyone in college, let alone the NBA. However, I do think he’s going to be the type of player that has a long and solid career overseas.

Because Sam is markedly better than Joey.

my take is that Joey Hauser would be a better player if he went by Joe Hauser

On the Izzo hypocrisy, I’ve been told that one of his major motivators for not retiring is using his influence to lobby rollbacks of NIL/transfer rules

Yeah, that’s gonna work

I caught an Izzo clip on the HUGE show today coming home from work and he was talking about he had players facing something “illegal nowadays called adversity…”
