My dog races competitively and we are going to Iowa for the first time in my life. What a ridiculously hard place to get a hotel if you wait too long . If you wanna stay in Iowa City (I donāt) youāre paying a fortune. The only place with availability is Cedar Rapids is a cockroached Motel 6.
please post some photos of your dog. you can DM if itās too off-topic. thanks
Are you going on a football weekend? I used to live in IC and it shouldnāt be like that unless youāre talking about football weekends ā¦
Yeah they host Nevada the same weekend.
We are staying all the way up in Independence.
Thatāll do it. Check the casino in Riverside. It might be sold out but my folks stayed there one year when they came for a Michigan game and it was nice and not too far from Iowa City.
The minor problem is we need it to be dog friendly but thatās a lot hotels now. We are staying in Independence. Go search for a dog friendly hotel around Amana, IA next weekend. Itās wild
Did you check AirBnB? My wife, son, in-laws, and myself went that route for Michiganās home opener last weekend and paid under $200 a night for a spot on Main Street.
1st Team for Dickinson by Rothstein
Hunter Dickinson, Michigan: Dickinson was so good two years ago as a freshman that many people may not have noticed how much better he got last season as a sophomore. After averaging 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in his first year of college basketball, Dickinson averaged 18.6 points and 8.6 rebounds in his second all while adding a new wrinkle to his arsenal ā the three-point shot. Dickinson made 21 shots from long distance as a sophomore after making none as a freshman. Heās again in line to anchor things for Michigan.
All five first teamers are centers and notably former Wolverine Colin Castleton is HM
Castletonās been pretty sick for Florida. Good scout by Beilein/Yaklich. But also lol they were 77th in D bc despite being 23rd in block rate and 18th in steal rate they were 333rd in D rebounding? 47th on O despite being 317th from 3? Imagine having to watch that team, woof.
The odd part of Castleton, is that I think many projected him to be a fairly typical Beilein Center, except with some rim protection abilities. His HS highlight tapes have lots of taking guys off the dribble and 3 point shooting. Yet thatās not at all part of his game. Heās mostly back to the basket. IDK what Beilein would have done with that and I canāt help but think Juwan had a hand in that
You can def see the possibility given the FT% but 5ās really seem to struggle to convert that kind of thing into actually taking and making 3ās. And yeah, I def wouldnāt have guessed he could be a pretty efficient 1v1 scorer. His % assisted at the rim was right on par w Hunter last year.
Yep I was very excited about Castleton as a recruit. I expected to see a Mo Wagner type who could actually block shots and defend. His offensive game just never amounted to that in college, but heās turned into a good post player
I actually wonder how much of an influence Juwan was on him in that one year they overlapped. While I think Juwan is comfortable with his centers shooting threes, I KNOW heās an expert at teaching them how to play with their back to the basket. Perhaps his work with Colin helped set him on the path of being a solid 5. I always liked him and Iām happy heās having a solid career.
I think we should have a thread here for āformer Michigan players - NCAAā. We can check in on Colin, Frankie, Bajema, etc.
Castleton going to play for four coaches at two schools. Impressive feat.
Do we need a āformer Michigan players - Influencerā thread so we can all keep up with Nunezās antics?

Is the thought that Akins is going to start? Are they going to start 3 guards or is Walker coming off the bench then?
