Big Ten Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

I mean, he could be fine. I think promoting off a college beat to an NFL beat is probably common.

People generally take jobs that are promotions/better? I haven’t read a word Thind has ever written, but it doesn’t mean he’s bad.

The cost cutting was going from individual writers for hoops and football and giving both sports to Pouncy and Meek.

Thind is awful.

Maybe he is, I think calling it “cost cutting on the MSU beat” is sort of wishful thinking

If you were familiar with Thind, this move would definitely register as cost cutting to you. He doesn’t even appear to be a full-time writer - his bio says “contributor.”

Holy cow — WVU’s freshman RB/TE (sic) is dope. He would kill as Michigan’s big back. Love this kid.

Dear god. The Athletic’s CFB coverage is so bad

Yeah besides the fact that hiring Thind for the msu beat is like hiring a temp, he’s also still working for 247 so he’s part time. Cost cutting.

Heard the leader to replace him is Tom Izzo.

In the interview process, can we please make candidates swear a blood oath to never implement new areas of emphasis each fall only to allow them to fade away by January? Thanks.

Not sure if you’re talking about the NBA or NCAA but yes.

What is the “6th” conference in new 12–team CFPlayoff? G5 plus Notre Dame (and other independents)?

Seems like a reasonably win for Big12 Pac12 to still get auto bids. USC regrets recent decision?

It would be the height of unfairness to have Notre Dame take the G5 bid. It sounds like no conference gets an absolutely guaranteed auto bid,. Bids go to the six highest rated conference champions. There may have been a year or two when that could have meant two G5 schools. The other six bids are at large.

Huge win for them but I supposed the sec and big ten figure they’ll get at least 4 of the at larges every year

So this is great for ND also. No conference championship. Just do your business during the year and hope you end the year ranked ahead of Houston or whatever and you’re in.

I don’t want to grouse too much though. I think this is a huge win for college football and will help especially teams that are near elite but not quite elite (Eg Mich USC LSU etc.). They are now on a somewhat more level playing field in recruiting as they are much more likely to offer playoff football. At least I hope that’s how it plays out.

Nope, it’s all about the money plus I have source saying there are P5 ADs who are talking about football breaking away from NCAA plus banding together would give them power to tell NCAA to f off.

Too bad for him

Major bummer for Towns. Honestly, I wouldn’t even have expected him to contribute much, if at all, this upcoming season, though.
