What are the rules behind fouling someone before the inbounds and why don’t teams do it more? Like in a late game situation why wouldn’t the opponent foul their worst free throw shooter without any time going off the clock every time?
Why would Hoiberg take the TO here? Minnesota should miss on purpose
look what they did to my beautiful boy
That was stupid. And then even stupider Minnesota made the FT.
If they miss the FT there’s no way Nebraska gets better than a one armed 3/4 court heave. As it was they got a decent half court look that hit the rim
That’s why you don’t make that FT. Nebraska would’ve had to launch a 3/4 court shot if they missed. Instead Tominaga got a great look
honestly I am of the opinion that Minnetonka has a decent roster and Ben Johnson is simply an F-tier stinky coach
I would take any of Cooper, Battle, Henley, Garcia, Payne, and/or Carrington on the Mich roster. Six credible-ish B1G guys. Arguably the same number as Mich right now
Tominaga emotional in his final game for Nebraska. It will be happier days next year when he is lifting the Big ten trophy with Hunter and Kobe.
Dawson Garcia is really solid. No one else would really start for a top half Big Ten team. What do any of those guys do well?
They might not start but Ta’Lon Cooper would get plenty of guard minutes here. Carrington too.
Battle is no worse than Joseph Baker. Payne is no worse than TWill.
Jaden Henley is…bad. Scratch him
Obviously Battle is better than Baker. The difference is that Battle is essentially the entire perimeter offense. Baker plays 15 minute per night.
Payne is really intriguing but he’s the only big man on the roster. It would be like if Michigan just had Tarris Reed at center.
Cooper just isn’t good enough to be a ball dominant high usage PG in the B10. Huge downgrade from Willis.
Carrington is a 6-4 freshman who just shoots threes and doesn’t make them.
Not trying to argue that Johnson is some sort of tactical genius but the roster is definitely bad.
no he’s not. smh Dylan why do I bother
on a serious note though aren’t you Team Volume over Team Percentage?
I can’t adequately argue for Minnetonka as a top-whatever roster in the B1G, I just think Johnson has made them clearly worse.
I think if you put Minnetonka’s top four players on Michigan you would have a B1G champion. Maybe that’s too obvious to be interesting though
I saw T’Lon Cooper live in Ann Arbor and I wondered why he was even on the floor, but it was Minnesota and they really didn’t have much. Even then, and he wasn’t good, but as a coach, I could see why he was on the floor. He ran the offense and moved the basketball, and because his coach trusted him. He wasn’t quick enough to play good defense, and he either didn’t shoot it or didn’t shoot it very well when he did. He certainly looked like an improved player last night during the first half. I didn’t watch the second half.
Garcia would play for us. In fact, I believe he would start at the four, which he could certainly do. I think Battle would play for us. If we had Garcia, too, then Battle would be in that Joey Baker role where he would be battling (pun not intended) Jett for minutes. If we didn’t have Garcia (I know we don’t, but I’m being hypothetical here) Battle would probably play the four for us. Ta’Lon Cooper? He’d be the third guard, because we don’t have a third guard, so he’d be the third guard by default. I don’t even know who Pharrel Payne is. Really, I don’t. If Garcia and Battle didn’t come over as part of the deal then I guess, from looking at his size and stats, he’d (Payne) be competing for minutes at the four, a position that is our weakest position. So, yeah, I would take Garcia in a heartbeat, and probably Battle, and, I think there would be better options than Cooper, but OK, Cooper only as a third guard behind THE Kobe Bufkin and Dug McDaniel.
I didn’t click on the article, but I know how I feel about Gard. Can’t stand the SOB!
My wife asked me yesterday if I wanted OSU or Wisconsin. I told her I wanted OSU to win. She said, “I thought you hated Ohio State,” to which I replied, “I DO, but I kinda like their coach, Chris Holtman, and I hate that SOB Greg Gard!” “You HATE him?” she said, and I answered, “Hate is a strong word. I CAN’T STAND the SOB!”
Pharrel Payne is a three star, 6’ 9" “power forward” freshman, one of three Minnesota freshmen from the state of Minnesota, and one who gives every look of being a future starter on a good Big Ten basketball team.
I liken his development cycle this season to that of Tarris Reed. The main difference is that Pharrel has gotten more playing time because Minnesota doesn’t have a Hunter Dickinson ahead of him, and Minnesota has needed him to play.
OSU 2023 BTT Champions
Gotta give them credit.
They coulda have just quit and appeared too at times.
But they haven’t.
Nah, Minnesota is winning this thing.
