Yeah, he’s still in a broom closet dissembling over the career of Demar DeRozan into his iPhone, at 2% charge
i think i defaulted to hockey brain, where +/- is an old-timey stat whose pointlessness serious analytics guys have been ranting about for over a decade, and just assumed the same was true of the nba hahaha
The NBA +/- works a little better because starters don’t play basically the whole game.
They also tend to discuss the relative offensive and defensive efficiencies of various lineup permutations, not raw plus minus
“The Warriors have a 117 offensive efficiency when Steph Curry plays” etc
Which is +/- ish but more nuanced
Same thing, and also misused just as often because then people compare those stats to a full team’s stats. But that’s neither here nor there.
Actually some good stuff in this pod about stuff we’ve talked about on the board a lot… close games, plus/minus, small sample size, OSU losing but not dropping as far as people want, etc.
They asked the football coaches this too. Harbaugh said “everything but points.” IIRC
Nothing quite on par with that here but some fun responses
And Kirk Ferentz said offensive yardage lol
It would be beneficial for CBB if Wisconsin does not make the tournament
Sean McNeil playing like a madman
Apparently!
Ref did not get suckered in by Hepburn and called that block. If only every conference ref had that same conviction when doing a Wisconsin game
Underwood had a decent answer. Points, specially ppg, is an overrated stat that people use to evaluate players and teams in general.
Not much panic there, not much pulse.
Yeah, a team is going to score 55 at least, someone has to score them
(This is the argument I was considering deploying against your “Cade is scoring 21!” Argument )
If we aren’t gonna be in the tournament, then neither should Wisconsin
Yep – he’s absolutely right from an individual perspective. PPG is basically something I never look at for scouting a player or previewing a player.
Lol I never said I’m not guilty of using it
GOOOOO! Suckeyes! GOOOOOOOOOO!
OSU to the semis?
