State’s lucky they don’t have to play hot Minnesota.
Wisconsins 2 pt shooting is something else
I bet their fans, I mean, reporters are calling rutgers losing to minnesota karma for not changing their schedule for them.
Same people who ignore izzo refused to change his precious game time after the 2017 plane crash.
Win Sunday and the double bye is guaranteed:
2 - 12/64 (Nebraska would have to win at Iowa)
3 - 28/64
4 - 24/64
Lose Sunday and no chance at the double bye:
5 - 16/64
6 - 12/64
7 - 20/64
8 - 16/64 (only if Northwestern wins at Rutgers)
One note about the 8 seed scenario is that we’d play Rutgers in that 8/9 game. Would Rutgers face a threat of dropping out of the field if they lose out after picking up a Q3 or Q4 (?) loss today?
Could be an interesting opportunity
Yes they could fall out for sure
As much as I hate the 8/9, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. I also question how motivated Purdue is for this tournament.
8/9 vs Rutgers and then Purdue would be ideal. Puts it all on the table for U-M.
Win Sunday.
Very True. This Illinois team went into Assembley Hall and almost beat IU without Terrance Shannon. Just saying…
Yeah if Michigan loses Sunday, I think this is the best path they could have to get in the tournament. Purdue would move the needle more than any other team they could play (while still being winnable) and they could get a win over another bubble team in the first game.
This has to be the best possible scenario remaining.
Would require home teams this weekend going 5-2, with Michigan and Wisconsin winning on the road.
So we want northwestern to beat rutgers?
With all the favorites winning (rutgers) and switching penn state to beat maryland (since maryland doesn’t win on the road), we finish at 5 and play the winner of ohio state and nebraska.
And win that and play msu at #4.
I’m guessing that’s probably close to pick’em game, but given how they have been shooting from three, probably want to avoid them.
MSU is the actual best team in the B1G. They will win the BTT.
I can see that…When Izzo cares about the BTT Izzo consistently wins it.
Just want to revisit the close games thing here. A month ago, there was a case to be made that Wisconsin did something special to win in close games. Or it was a coaching thing. Or it was engrained in how they play.
They are 2-5 in their last seven close games (2 poss or OT)
- 54-52 loss to NW
- OT win over PSU
- OT loss at NEB
- 5pt win over U-M
- 1pt loss to Rutgers
- OT loss at Michigan
- 2 pt loss at Purdue
Turns out that playing 19 (!) close games is a sign that you aren’t very good. They are now 10-9 in close games.
As long as you remember that he only cares about it when he wins it!
They didn’t get their win in Ann Arbor so they make a Final Four is guaranteed stat their people always talk about.
