truly bizarre to be the clear #2 in the conference and not even close to the bubble
hereâs a fun exercise, if you flip every loss of 5 points or fewer Michigan is currently a 5 seed and t-1st in the B1G
What is it if you flip even half of them?
there have been 7 so
flip 3/7 (UVA, CMU, IU) = 9 seed
flip 4/7 (UVA, CMU, IU, UW) = 8 seed
If you bump the cutoff for this exercise from 5 to 6, youâd add two more games too (losses at MSU and Maryland).
even flipping ONLY CMU takes M from 18th out to 3rd out. We could probably get in with a 2-2 finish without that CMU anchor
probably the most consequential seeding loss of the combined JB/JH eras and since the 06 BTT loss to Minnesota.
If the team goes on a run this can still happen. All games will be tough but that chart above shows that our team is much better than the record. They just have to bottle the good ju ju from this win and basically believe they can get the job done in the waning moments of games. I really think we can have a good week this week and then weâre absolutely due against a Cockburnless Illinois. Indiana who knows but weâve played them tough with the current lineups so itâs possible. Highly unlikely yes but this game at least preserves hope for a few days.
Damn you. You did not have me at hello but you have me now.
And the MSU loss was only six points because of the weird âGotta call a foul for the gambling communityâ call with 0.2 seconds left.
Also one more point for the hope at least for the next few days is that our team has actually done pretty well on the road. Theyâve competed. The one exception was against Pickett and PSU who are a matchup nightmare for us.
based on current BTT projections it is extremely likely Michigan ends up in the 8-9 Thursday game with Purdue at 1 the next day. Just a tough draw any way you slice it.
Michigan would obviously do itself a huge favor by winning out â that would put us at #3 and a double bye vs the 6-11/14 Wednesday winner
I think they could probably get to the 7 via a tiebreaker with NW if they both finish 11-9. Too many games too really say right now though.
OSU is awful and it is hilarious
Picking up Devin Royal when OSU fires Holtmann and he asks out of his LOI >>>
Donât think Holtmann would be fired, but Royal is an elite roster fit I think given this teamâs issues at the 4.
If I recall, Royalâs not a shooter but more of a undersized back to the basket plugger right?
I mean I get OSU not being great this year but its mind boggling how downright bad they are. I get theyve given up on the year now, but to be as bad as they were before that is pretty crazy. Like not even a mediocre team in the conference this year? Totally seems like it is an indictment on Holtman.
Whole thing went sideways with Keyâs injury. Then they lost touch with the season with a couple of those bad losses.
Will be fascinating to see how it plays out from here.
They added so many transfers and theyâve all been so ⌠average. Feels like theyâve blocked the freshmen a bit but arenât good enough to elevate much.
