I think Max Christie is as advertised though. Probably the smart FOTY vote right now. Wouldn’t be surprised if he leads MSU in scoring.
Definitely looks like he’s gonna live up to the hype as a general “possession finisher”. I haven’t seen enough to feel strongly either way about him having secondary playmaker upside. But I would agree that I feel pretty confident he’ll lead MSU in scoring
He looks really good. really efficient with the ball for a freshman.
Positive Takeaways:
- Christie is gonna score a lot of points in the flow of the offense
- Hall and Hauser look improved and should contribute effectively
- MSU is definitely able to make dunks in transition vs a D2 team
How did the second half go?
Any observations about Walker? A remotely competent PG may unlock their supporting role players like Brown, Hauser, their misfit centers, Hall…
Played good defense. Made some layups in transition. Got assists on some pretty easy pick and pop reads
Thanks. How many times did Izzo yank him and chew him out in embarrassing fashion on the sidelines? I set the O/U at 0.5 for an exhibition game.
Confused. Those seem like negative things to me.
(srsly, thanks for the observations)
Don’t know if it will translate to college, but Christie was a really unselfish player in AAU and definitely a plus passer.
Christie looked really good last night. I thought he was pretty clearly MSU’s best player and in a way that’s hard to do (i.e. he wasn’t just jacking up shots every time down the court).
why are some all caps and some not?
All caps = consensus.
Ok, I’m officially in worried mode - considering we couldn’t make dunks against air!
Eamonn from the Athletic put out a big guy rankings and it seemed reasonable to me: College basketball’s top 20 bigs for the 2021-22 season, led by Drew Timme and the Big Ten’s bevy of large humans – The Athletic
#12 in Katz’s Kountdown is Eric Ayala.
He’s either going to be lower on this list than Donta Scott, which I think is wrong (Ayala is their best player IMO), or Scott isn’t going to be listed at all, which I also think is wrong.
LOL!!!
I joked to myself that I knew there was no way that Greg Gard’s #1 bootlicker was going to leave a Badger off of this list, but at the same time it seemed kind of ridiculous given how mediocre Davison has been over his career and how bad Wisconsin is likely going to be.
But this is Andy Katz we’re talking about. The guy is a shameless shill.
What does he do well, aside from doling out cookie shots?
Well, he’s excellent at missing layups. So there’s that.
