I’m pretty amazed how little he ventures outside of his own familiarity. Only pursues an oakland university transfer.
Didn’t Beilein have no previous connection to Haynes and Yakich?

Yes, Dan Muller (the head coach of Illinois State) cold-called Beilein and told him he had two perfect candidates.
“ I’d say Hunter is a significantly better player than TJD”
Fixed that for you Dylan
Unless Katz changes his mind between now and then, or inexplicably uses some measure specific to the conference, his top 5 will be:
Jackson-Davis
Dickinson
Edey
McConnell
Shannon
That is beyond ridiculous. If Caleb McConnell is the fourth best player in the Big Ten, then this conference is going to be straight up terrible.
I guess on second thought, there’s going to be a big drop off after the top 3, and someone has to be #4. Just seems like a big stretch for that to be McConnell. Again, does Katz expect him to shoot 80% on jumpers every game?
McConnell is a pretty goood player, though. You never know.
He’s a great defensive player, no argument there. But his offensive game is a major yikes. Career 44% from 2 and 28% from 3 (44/27 last season).
Plus, I don’t think JB had any personal connection to LaVall Jordan or Saddi Washington before they were hired, although they had ties to the state of Michigan.
Caleb McConnell 14th best returning player in CBB ahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Yeah, if that’s true then this upcoming college hoops season is doomed.
This is Geo 2.0. 14th best returning player in conference would be a much better designation
Is he really saying 14th in the nation? Not in the conference?
Yes more characters
I wish there was a like a First Take style show on BTN. I would watch the cr*p out of that. I’m dying for someone to actually challenge Andy Katz on any of his takes. Unfortunately that would mean an opposing view point that isn’t blowing B1G sunshine all the time which ain’t happening
Gauntlet schedule:
Is there a reason that IU would prefer this over just playing two non conference buy games? Like what’s the point of a “tournament” that only one team has any chance at winning?
It harkens back to something that Bobby Knight used to do. Plus, the Notre Dame-Butler-Purdue tourney is no more.
It’s not actually a tournament it’s just a round Robin. Teams do this because it means they are able to schedule more games.
Indiana gets to play all three of these powerhouses!? Wow
