Plus one for reference to old things an old guy can relate to. The Lakes were my jam at that stage in world history. Used to go to a biker bar in Somerville, MA to watch them engage with the Celtics. They tolerated my (then) very young behind.

  6. Akins - I think someone from State has to be dynamic with the ball this year and dont believe in Walker or Hoggard to provide a multidimensional role that Akins is capable of. Also, I hate that this de facto says that Akins is the best freshman in the league :unamused:

Akins at No. 6 in the Big Ten?!?!!

Yep… definitely a hot take. I just think that his skill set is what is going to unlock what MSU has for roster composition.

Although 6 is definitely too generous, I thought it would be fun to see the reactions. Also after the top 3 or 4 guys, the rest of the “best players in the league” evaluation is a bit of a crapshoot. I dont love TJD nor Trevion either

This is my same guess at the top 5. Trevion and Curbelo at 6 and 7

What about Joey Hauser? Or Geo Baker?

I think you guys have captured the likely top 5 in some order and it is totally on brand for the B10 to have 4-5 centers in the top five. Could be a weird season with so many questions at PG trying to get the ball to these centers.

Here’s a question - how many Michigan players will be in the top 25? Hunter obviously. Eli always gets left off these lists. Jones probably sneaks in the back end. Houstan probably?

Akins can take that role and still not be the 6h best player in the league. You’re putting him above Curbelo and Ivey. If he’s not the best freshman in the league than he’s not the 6th best player

Unless this was just to say you’re high on Akins

Lol. Not sure what the argument is from the Indiana end. Dickinson was straight-up better than TJD last year and still has a sophomore jump to make.

Perhaps the argument is amnesia…

How about guys you wouldn’t have in your top 25 that others might consider?

For me: Fatts Russell, Boo Buie, Jamari Wheeler, Eric Hunter, Alonzo Verge, Trey McGowens

Yeah this is a bit of hyperbole to say that I am high on Akins. Only contention is that I am definitely not putting him higher than Curbelo and Ivey - they were 4 and 5 on my list with the additional hyperbolic number 6 with Akins

Dickinson is more productive and offensively tuned than Kofi. However, Kofi is a freak athlete and great defender therefore these are tied for No.1 in the Big ten. EJ Liddell is clearly no.3 because he can carry a team to wins as well as Williams. TJD is a stat sheet stuffer who shoots lots of FT and hasn’t led his team to success.

Ron Harper Jr is No.6 imo. That man can play big and small with the athletic tools necessary to do a little bit of everything.

So Akins over Trayce Jackson-Davis and Trevion Williams?

I don’t think I would consider Alonzo Verge anywhere near the top 25. I think of him as the sequel to The Audacious One
