Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

Hoggard | Walker
Walker | Akins
Portal | Brooks
Hall | Portal
Marble | Sissoko

I think that team is good especially depending on the portal guy. If it’s Jalen Bridges it’s really good IMO.

Izzo has been his own worst enemy since Winston left with the 13-man rotations. I think a smaller roster will help him get out of his own way

No interior defense though. That will be MSU’s biggest issue next season

True but I can’t revel in that until I know what Michigan looks like

Christie being likely gone makes me much less worried about MSU. He was their shot at an all conference guy. Hoggard, Walker, Akins is fine but without knowing what else they get in the portal I’m not worried about them being contenders or anything

I feel like this is what is said the offseason before an MSU Final Four run

Way too early to gauge, but if Christie’s gone and HD returns we probably need to aim for a sweep of them next year. You have to sweep those effing effers when they are down.

Yeah but he lost the guys he usually needs to suddenly have the senior-year blossom to make it happen.

Who is even gonna be like top-15 nationally good in the Big Ten next year? Other than Illinois going 2-0 against Michigan

Ohio State if Branham returns

Even if he returns, OSU is gonna lose a lot. Idk who from this conference is gonna be legit next year. Hopefully nobody except us.

Maybe an unexpected leap like Minnesota. The way Wisconsin was projected 10th this year

So I guess Branham, HD, Kofi, Edey, and Christie would be the key league-wide variables

totally agree, plus incoming transfers. Purdue with Edey + Nijel Pack would be formidable for example

That’s a good solid backcourt but man that front court could really struggle. Hall has potential but If he hasn’t put it together yet, then I’m not sure when he will. Marble is okay I guess but he fouls literally every possession. That was fine when they had Bingham. Not fine when sissoko is next

I dunno, it’s not exactly scientific but whenever you expect MSU to take a step back is when they dominate out of nowhere

But that’s also usually when there are great seniors who have already logged a lot of minutes

If Sueing and Towns return and are healthy that increases their ceiling.

What are the odds of Towns ever being healthy again? And even if he is, is he going to be even remotely the same player?

Losing Liddell, Young and Wheeler will be big losses. Hopefully Branham joins them and decimates the roster

Sueing is underrated IMO. he could be a star if called upon

I think Illinois would be the clear preseason favorite if Kofi comes back yet again. OSU if Branham comes back.

If every B1G NBA candidate leaves and the entire conference has no incoming transfers…then I dunno. I don’t think that’s a real scenario but if we pretend it is I have no idea. Iowa?
