maybe what freaks him out about the NIL thing is that they’re still doing the old school bag dropping and that means he has to put his neck out there a lot more than he would otherwise?
Kind of funny they should have an entire apparel company working for them, but that company isn’t really in position to just funnel money to recruits.
Every school has a bag game.
it actually handicaps them on the trail. most AAU programs have a shoe affiliation, EYBL, 3SSB, etc. Under Armour has no AAU clout. Steph Curry is trying to help a little but they are way behind
also there are weird internal politics with the Under Armour people and how much they actually help Maryland, again look at Auburn football (another Under Armour school)
ok but not necessarily a good one
I’ve been a um nil complainer, but I feel like nil is the new everyone else is cheating excuse for coaches bad at recruiting.
yeah somehow everyone is months behind, even OSU FB and UCLA BB. so who was on time? Alabama FB and Kentucky BB and nobody else?
Hunter is making bank. Blake Corum is making bank. Just because they aren’t spamming everyone with totals, what makes UM’s so bad?
Um has been nowhere as progressive as others(see hunters griping) and has yet to have a collective, which is a huge deal.
Do we know how the legality of collectives work? How do they not act as an explicit inducement to attend a specific school?
Hunter’s particular griping never made any sense and was clearly just him misunderstanding. He was upset that he couldn’t use M logos which is the standard practice in NIL and in pro sports.
Yeah I don’t know that Hunter’s critique was an intelligent one. I’ll don’t think that public discourse lasted long enough for there to be replies and ciuntereplies, but I don’t know if other kids at other schools are getting away with that and Hunter can’t.
So gripes about standard operating procedures. Got it.
Presumably, attorneys are working through that, but I could see the through path being “having standing programs avail for your student athletes is OK (and advertising that is OK) so long as you don’t make offers to specific recruits guaranteeing certain support upon enrollment”.
Willard might need to hire another 5* prospect’s high school coach to get things started.
Illinois feels likely here:
ugh don’t say that Dylan
I’m sure this guy is good and all but this has to be a strong candidate for worst hair of all time
if all of them are back, um should be ranked way higher than 13
