Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

BTW has it been discussed in this thread that maryland writers are hearing mike brey as their next coach

He’s a dematha guy right? Makes sense for him. A little surprised Maryland is gonna settle for an older guy that’s kind of past his prime

brey’s a good coach but i am curious how he will recruit there, obviously has deep dmv ties (especially at dematha)

Guessing they are trying to lock down the DMV.

Weird. Brey turns 63 this month and ND’s been scuffling along the last 4-5 years. Maybe they should have hired him at the time they hired Turgeon.

Yeah Brey hhas got it made at ND, after the last handful of years and he is still there clearly shows they are fine with being a borderline tourney team.

MD has much higher expectations than that. Turgeon really isnt that bad of a coach, the expectations placed on him were pretty wild. Expecting Brey to do better seems hard to believe and I can envision him being fired in 3 years when they dont win the B1G.

He was kind of on the hot seat this year.

ngl, I dont pay close attention to ACC hoops and definitely not ND hoops, just know hes been not great to outright bad the last 5 years and is still there. If he is finally on the hot seat, well, I can’t say I am surprised.

The two particular athletic programs you hoped would really add something to the B1G expansion, Nebraska football and Maryland basketball, have really been disappointing so far. Mike Brey would really hammer home their commitment to mediocrity.

The 63 year old with two tourney wins (including this season) in the last 5 years, yeah, that’s our guy.

Seth Davis said the chatter for Maryland is Kevin Willard, so who knows? I would guess the Maryland beat is more plugged in.

Very good coach.

Kevin Willard wouldn’t take Maryland anywhere close to the elite program their fans think they are imo, but he’d be solid

does he even play?

He’s getting started a little early with his April Fools joke!

Who? He’s played as many minutes for them in the last month as I have!

It should have said “Rutgers bench player Jaden Jones has decided to give up on playing in college and attempt to latch on with a G-League team to further develop his skills.”

Maybe Juwan can make a new friend?

Supposedly going have david cox and tony skin on his staff. Both have big recruiting reps with heavy dmv ties, going continue to be loads of talent on Maryland.
