Ivey electric.
I like them a lot with my boy Pickett. I was posting earlier that I thought they had a real shot to win that game. They have some decent talent.
pickett, Sessoms, dread, lundy, harrar is a solid group that can pull an upset on a nice night.
all these upsets are making me quite bitter about our loss.
Me too. If we had a team that gave a sh** on a consistent basis, we wouldn’t be here.
I was surprised to see those quotes.
My vibe was they were just inexperienced and not mentally tough yet with a hint of roster construction issues.
I didn’t get the vibe that his team didn’t care or were not approaching the game the way they needed too. Kind of disheartening honestly.
Between Eli, Hunter, and now Jones, heck even T Will,Caelb, and Diabate now I didn’t get that vibe. The “nice/good kids” vibe lacking killer instinct and mental toughness I could see but lack of prepartion or overall disinterest or lack of heart was not something I was thinking of.
NBA dreams. Some can pause it, some can’t.
SDSU doing well
I’d add it has been a frustrating year. Even with all the issues this team really should have another four or five wins imo minimum with the talent.
Seton Hall, MInnesota, UCF, first Ohio st game, this Indiana game, first Purdue game , Wisconsin game, last Illinois game, heck even the Iowa game, all of them were very very winnable. If they even finish half of those were having a completey different conversation.
Lets say they took four of those. 21-10 with that schedule is not a bad look. If they could have done even better and gotten 6 of them than were talking 23-8 and what a three or four seed?
Just a little more mental toughness, luck (looking at UCF,Iowa, Illinois games unable to miss a shot) or shot making in a couple of those games (Ohio st, Wisconsin) and we’re in the mix for a top twenty five ranking.
I guess to play devils advocate someone could point out we were very close to losing to Northwestern and penn st, should have probably lost to Nebraska ect and they could be below five hundred.
Big ten play has had a decent amount of barn burners this year for this roster.
Goes to show this team is Jekyl and hyde. They handled SDSU. I don’t remember feeling nervous for most of that game and they pretty much handled them easily.
I just want that tourney bid so bad and for it not to be a play in game.
Even though they’ve alternated wins and losses, I’m finally convinced this team has the upside to make a run in the right bracket if they play well. Its just a big if.
One of those things where its like if “each team were to play their best game”, who would win? I’d like Michigan’s chances in a lot of match ups under that scenario. Playing to their ceiling just hasn’t been this rosters forte for more than a game at a time.
I think this is where the quotes before at OSU came into play. Guys coasted this year. Teammates were upset, coaches were upset. They were just civil about it.
If I can get into the psyche of the post game pressers, I think it’s just normal for a team that’s losing to say that type of stuff. I don’t think the team is disinterested at all. I can’t even think of anyone that would be disinterested except Hunter I guess, and maybe that could explain his awful defense.
The players aren’t gonna say “yeah we lost cause Davante and Eli lost their minds” they’re gonna blame it on “effort”
I imagine our guys will be pretty jacked if they make it. There’s nothing like the Tourney especially after a year like this. Like Dylan said what happens if they play free knowing at this point there’s nothing left to lose just leave it all on the court and see where they end up.
You’re right! If they play free, there’s a great chance they could go 4/21 from three!
CSU throwing up some shots that just keep going in. SDSU needs to put the hammer down.
I think the team just isn’t that good. There are too many flaws: not enough shooting, not enough defense, not enough depth. Our preseason ranking was dependent on the freshman class making a huge impact off the bat, and that didn’t quite happen.
But of course the players aren’t going to acknowledge that to the media.
It’s the consistency. We show a lot fairly frequently but we can’t string performances together at this point. This team is certainly a lot better than at the beginning of the year. Now they need to try to string good performances together to cap off the season wherever they end up hopefully in the NCAA Tourney.
Whoever said free throw rebounding has been awful is right.
SDSU needs to run offense
Any idea why Lunardi supposedly has us much lower after us actually getting a bunch of favorable results?
I imagine some if it could be intrigue. He definitely dropped us not sure why Rutgers is above us according to him. He also had us above ND but now they’re above us. I’ll be interested to see what the Bracket Matrix consensus says.
