I’m on board with Ivey to the Pistons as well
I really don’t know how to explain this Wisconsin thing at this point…
Wisconsin is 10-3 and has outscored Big Ten teams by 17 points.
Almost a decade!
I was about to say! A few years ago was not 2014
Sounds like a team rules issue (maybe curfew on the road?).
One thought on the Big Ten… is there a bigger gap between the contenders and the bubble teams (IU, Iowa, Indiana) or the bubble teams and the tough but not really a chance to make the NCAAT teams (Rutgers, PSU, Northwestern, etc.)
The strength of that next tier makes the league treacherous this year.
If you want to get upset about Juwan’s rotations (which I have done plenty before), it could be worse:
The not bubble level teams are very good this year. The backend is stronger than any other conference save B12 and the B12 only has 10 teams so it’s not even a fair comparison.
That’s a welcome shot of perspective
Am I the only one who has no idea what I’m looking at in that chart?
Also… are rotations what’s wrong with MSU? How do MSU fans want to change the rotations? I feel like they just have a deep team at this point.
Had the same thought initially. But starting where the rows are numbered you can see the number of five-man lineups for each team and the personnel for each. MSU played 25 lineup combinations and Wisconsin played 11. Not sure about the rest of it, however…
I’m not watching them closely enough to know how much the “deep bench” is really hurting them.
PG - They split 50/50 and some games it is hard to tell which one should play more
SG - Christie is playing a lot and Akins isn’t, not sure what you’d change
SF - Brown is finally getting his minutes, not much to change
PF - Hall probably needs to take some of Hauser’s minutes here and get used more
C - I still think Bingham needs to play 25-28 minutes so I guess that’s an opportunity
I had no idea what I was looking at either, just trusting the words
I think there’s a difference between having a deep team and playing 25 different 5 man combos though. I guess I’d have to know how many combos is normal for a 9-10 man rotation
It’s often said that it’s a flow based game, or that the offense needs to get in a rhythm etc etc. I don’t know how you do that if you’ve got more lineup changes than buckets…
Michigan played 25 last night, FWIW. PSU played 21. This feels like people yelling about a stat that seems big but maybe is kind of normal?
I see on Twitter how PJ Brooks needs more minutes and Akins needs more minutes but MSU needs to play fewer lineups. Doesn’t add up.
I didn’t watch the game, so I’m not saying this is accurate. But when Bingham and Hall(2 of your best players) only play 20 min and Gabe(a 40%+ from 3) only has 3 3p attempts, you aren’t going to win against good teams. I shake my head at Juwan’s rotations sometimes, but Izzo’s rotations have been HORRID for almost a decade.
Wow I didn’t think you could be worst than we were against State in regards to transition, but PSU proved me wrong there lol
The schedule favors Wisconsin. Illinois has the hardest path. Purdue is probably the best team, but they tend to under perform.
I doubt if the Big Ten has a team that reaches the Elite Eight, let alone the Final Four.
Don’t know that they win the conference but I’m ready to call this Purdue’s breakout postseason. It’s only Feb 9. By late March Ivey will be even better than he is now. Just a few flashes of passing out of the P/R and it’s a level-up nightmare.
