Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Ugh. At least one of OSU/Illinois has to lose in the Finals.

I really don’t mind Illinois the team. I assume if they win the whole banner thing becomes an non issue anyway.

I’ll be rooting for every B1G team in the tourney, other than Illinois. But fear not Illini fans on the board, if history is any indication of what’s to come, the fighting shit-talkers are going to have a fantastic run.

Of course ā€œas of todayā€ doesnt matter all that much…but they are hitting and have momentum. Perhaps none of that will matter when MM starts, but I like their odds of winning it all more than any other B1G team ā€œas of todayā€.

Illinois is playing well (and is really good and has been really good) but they aren’t really relevant to Michigan unless they meet in the Final Four. I think UM would take that at this point.

Pre Livers injury I’d take Michigan as the most likely championship team. But without Livers it’s Illinois by a mile. I don’t like Iowa or OSU’s chances

I agree…I’d love to meet them in the FF. I just really hope that Mich hit’s on all cylinders and shakes this inconsistent play blues from the last couple weeks…and that Livers will be ready.

I LOVE Michigan, but, without Livers I don’t think we would beat them. Illinois is REALLY good, final four good, NCAA finals good, National Championship good. They are the REAL deal! So, here’s my order, Gonzaga, Illinois, Baylor, probably Michigan and CERTAINLY Michigan with Isaiah, OSU or Houston, Houston or OSU, and Iowa. Top seven teams in my ā€œhumbleā€ opinion. By the way, Villanova would be right there, too, except for their exceptional player and leader, Gillespie and now their PG Moore.

Just get through the first weekend. And then hopefully by then they’ll have better chemistry without Livers.

If we’re in a position to play Illinois again, I’ll be over the moon with this season because it would mean we’re in the Final Four.

Williams wasn’t bashful about shooting earlier in the year. If he can knock down the occasional open 3, that would be huge.

That’s what I was referring to.

And realistically speaking, it would mean we’re in the national championship game. There’s no way we’ll be the #2/#3 overall, and is there any way the 1 seeds get paired out of order this year with no geographic considerations?

It’s gonna make me very unhappy when Washington goes 2-13 tomorrow.

Anyone can lose asap for all I care. This ain’t the sec.

Count on it. Probably two hands will be sufficient.

He’s 9/28 in two games against Illinois this season so this is 100% in the realm of possibilities.

And I remember Archie being considered the big prize that year. Ouch.

Was Archie really being hyped that much? I don’t remember. Archie and Holtmanns resumes were identical

Archie definitely got a good amount of National media hype because of his notoriety from the elite 8. I don’t believe it was a super hyped hire though (like a Harbaugh)
