LOL, did you have those photos just chillin’ in your back pocket for such an occasion?

Up to #2 and 4 first place votes. Illinois is 4, Iowa is 5, OSU is 7, Purdue is 23 and somehow Wisconsin is still ranked at 25. Maryland is receiving votes.

That doesn’t quite scan because I would rather play Wisconsin than Maryland right about now.

Both home games …

Also the only top 25 (by rankings or metrics) team they’ve beaten all year is Loyola. They’re 0-6 vs the top level big teams, with a chance to move to 0-8 vs top 20 B1G teams by the end of this week. They have a win against Loyola, wins against RU and Maryland which are teams just outside of the top 25/30 on the computers, and a win against Louisville which is a borderline top 50 team. Nothing about that says top 25 worthy, especially when you add losses to PSU and Marquette in there.

And Louisville was coming off a shutdown and still missing half their team for that game. If the 10 or 11 seed that Wisconsin faces is even remotely competent I’m going with them over Wiscy.

which the team and coach will be completely aware of and prepared for.

Has the Big 10 officially announced that winning percentage was a going to determine the champ? If Michigan finished 15-2 and Illinois is 16-4, Michigan should win the title outright. However, I could not care less if they were awarded the split for that, we would still hang the banner and should be rewarded with the 1 seed in the BTT. If Illinois loses one, they have no case for a split in my opinion

@BigBoutros Ranking Rutgers is a spicy take (Reddit CBB Ballot) with zero AP poll votes.

It IS possible that Izzo has sent a message to him. Honestly, it would be an easy message to send. Sissoko has really done nothing for the team this year. To suspend him wouldn’t be like suspending a Langford or a Henry, who would never do such a thing, by the way, but it would be an effective way to teach the player, and others, that that is NOT the way we play and that it will not be tolerated. He doesn’t have to call the kid out in public. This could be done a team matter. Sometimes, even in the times in which we live now, it’s OK to keep things among the team. Maybe Izzo has done that. I honestly hope so.

The truth is out there.

the AP has Wisconsin at 25, that spot is going to be a mess regardless. Rutgers is 27 in KP, 32 in NET…it was close enough for me

I’m not saying we’ll blow the game off or anything, but if we’ve already clinched the title while MSU is playing for its life, that feels like a trap game. And we’ve seen the kind of whistle Sparty gets at home.

I actually don’t hate it. Although I will say their good 6-3 stretch hasn’t come against the best of competition, which would be the thing keeping me from putting them in. Two Indiana victories are their best in the stretch. Although they do have a Purdue win and Illinois win on the season.

Off the top of my head one of the contenders for that #25 spot was USC and they have lost 3 of 4 in the freakishly weak Pac-12.

Tennessee was another option and they’ve lost 3 of 5.

In any case that vote is either going to a high-major team that kind of stinks or a meme like Colgate. Rutgers has a top-5 SOS overall so they got the nod for me

Had to think about it for a bit, but give me the Sparty games. There is no appeasing the Cryin’ Illini. They have multiple excuses in their pocket ready to fly when they lose tomorrow night. Should they happen to win, they are still unlikely to dig themselves out of the hole they built for themselves (a hole they dug when the team was at full strength). Blue collar, white collar, but especially orange collars will be stained with the tears of Illinois.

This is a rare year when it looks like Michigan can finally exercise some ghosts of past Sparty blowouts. Even when Michigan is having an up year, it seems the best they can do is split with MSU.

I certainly remember what happens when Sparty is in control in their games against Michigan: late game dunk contests and whatever Matt Costello did to that baseline camera.

After football, I’m not taking Sparty for granted. I don’t want bad coaching, bad roster management, and sideline antics to get rewarded this time around with a close game. Pound Sparty. Pound 'em.

I’m glad my “like” was the tenth “like” on your comment and the one that gave you the “Nice Replay” badge! I was thinking the SAME thing and just didn’t get here in time!  You’re right! Let’s do it. Just win all three!

Edit: Originally I was sending this to you as a private message but I got a message that you weren’t accepting messages! I hope no one has been nasty to you, but I doubt that would happen. This isn’t mgoblog, after all!

YES.

IF we do that, especially in the conference tourney as well to make it 0-3, and IF they miss the big dance and Izzo’s streak is over, that’s more than just ‘19 payback - is permanent lore in rivalry history. Grandsons on their grandfathers’ knees, and all that. This is a precious opportunity.
