Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Go pro in something other than sports? I mean, leaving college was probably hard for many of us but we all had to get along with our lives eventually. Guys like Eli and Kyle Young can tell themselves they’re coming back to a contender. Brad can’t say the same.

I imagine he has the credits to graduate. But getting a free graduate degree–if that’s what he’s doing–would be a solid reason. I can buy that one.

I actually meant to be agreeing with you lol. He’s got the degree so he can probably, as you said, go pro in something other than sports.

30 or 40 years ago there was a lot more demand for people who can help you make an offer another person can’t refuse.

I guess Miller isn’t coming back. I wonder about Frazier too. How many 6’1" shooting guards fit on one team?

Seems kinda superfluous if Frazier is coming back too IMO. Undersized guard who plays off ball. Unless they’re gonna roll with the 2020 Michigan three 6’0 guys lineup or somebody is content coming off the bench a la Brown, I’m guessing that’s a nail in the coffin for Frazier’s return

If FSU is Big Guard U, Illinois is gunning for Small Guard U.

Frazier’s defense makes him valuable even though he’s small. Similar to Plummer’s shooting making him a useful piece.

pretty impressive upgrades on the fly

Is it currently thought that Cockburn is staying?

I believe so, at least on the Illinois boards.

Is that the actual belief of people around Kofi or the Illinois homer belief (a la MSU fans being convinced that Emoni is going to play)?

Not sure but I don’t think it’s at the Emoni level. Kofi is not a great NBA prospect.

He is hugely consequential to Illinois, however:

Michigan vs. that version of Illinois would be an interesting matchup. HD, Diabate, Johns, Houstan, all big fellows.

Oh I know he isn’t a great NBA prospect, but he waited until the last possible moment to pull his name out of the draft last year. Usually when guys get that deep into the draft process, they don’t plan to stick around in college much longer. It’s also true that he can’t really do anything to improve his NBA stock. He is what he is. He’s not about to come out next year as a junior and start hitting 18 foot jumpers on the regular. So just up to him when he wants to start that next journey. Last draft cycle gave me the impression he had his eye on leaving when he could, but maybe he had a change of heart though after a very successful season.

Maybe Plummer is the Frazier replacement after all

If the link doesn’t work it is Frazier’s Instagram story saying thank you Illinois, great 4 years, peace out, etc

So his announcement was the same announcement he made earlier? What about his dad?

no idea. Illinois boards are claiming this goodbye is a ruse. are they in Emoni Mode or do they know him better than us? only time will tell. I mean Livers tweeted a lot less than this and we all acknowledged it was an exit so who knows

Uh… what? I know we’re not perfect as a forum and woe is to he who condemns the mirror of his actions, but this is just next level hilarious.

yeah they seem pretty convinced and I kind of buy it. unless he had a huge miscommunication with his dad
