Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

The truth is out there.

the AP has Wisconsin at 25, that spot is going to be a mess regardless. Rutgers is 27 in KP, 32 in NET…it was close enough for me

I’m not saying we’ll blow the game off or anything, but if we’ve already clinched the title while MSU is playing for its life, that feels like a trap game. And we’ve seen the kind of whistle Sparty gets at home.

I actually don’t hate it. Although I will say their good 6-3 stretch hasn’t come against the best of competition, which would be the thing keeping me from putting them in. Two Indiana victories are their best in the stretch. Although they do have a Purdue win and Illinois win on the season.

Off the top of my head one of the contenders for that #25 spot was USC and they have lost 3 of 4 in the freakishly weak Pac-12.

Tennessee was another option and they’ve lost 3 of 5.

In any case that vote is either going to a high-major team that kind of stinks or a meme like Colgate. Rutgers has a top-5 SOS overall so they got the nod for me

Had to think about it for a bit, but give me the Sparty games. There is no appeasing the Cryin’ Illini. They have multiple excuses in their pocket ready to fly when they lose tomorrow night. Should they happen to win, they are still unlikely to dig themselves out of the hole they built for themselves (a hole they dug when the team was at full strength). Blue collar, white collar, but especially orange collars will be stained with the tears of Illinois.

This is a rare year when it looks like Michigan can finally exercise some ghosts of past Sparty blowouts. Even when Michigan is having an up year, it seems the best they can do is split with MSU.

I certainly remember what happens when Sparty is in control in their games against Michigan: late game dunk contests and whatever Matt Costello did to that baseline camera.

After football, I’m not taking Sparty for granted. I don’t want bad coaching, bad roster management, and sideline antics to get rewarded this time around with a close game. Pound Sparty. Pound 'em.

I’m glad my “like” was the tenth “like” on your comment and the one that gave you the “Nice Replay” badge! I was thinking the SAME thing and just didn’t get here in time!  You’re right! Let’s do it. Just win all three!

Edit: Originally I was sending this to you as a private message but I got a message that you weren’t accepting messages! I hope no one has been nasty to you, but I doubt that would happen. This isn’t mgoblog, after all!

YES.

IF we do that, especially in the conference tourney as well to make it 0-3, and IF they miss the big dance and Izzo’s streak is over, that’s more than just ‘19 payback - is permanent lore in rivalry history. Grandsons on their grandfathers’ knees, and all that. This is a precious opportunity.

At least he gives proper respect to Purdue and BYU

If this is anything to go by, I expect 2 Michigan dubs

I’m certainly savoring the end of this season and what will hopefully be a long Tourney run for the good guys. But there is a small part of me that wants to fast forward to next season, MSU @ Illinois, and be there to see the reaction when Mady Sissoko checks in for the first time in front of a sellout home crowd… that’s gonna be brutal And he will deserve it.

I honestly hope too that Izzo called Underwood to apologize for the foul and tell him that Sissoko is being further disciplined.

I do know if it’s OK to link this here. I hope so.

I’ll take a win over Illinois, then a blowout win against MSU. And then rest the starters against MSU in the rematch. How pissed would Excuzzo be if Michigan did that?

Impossible to overstate how satisfying that 2018 run was, Professor! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

In hindsight it’s amazing his teammates didn’t immediately get into Sissoko’s grill after that defending their meal ticket. Particularly Giorgi as he’s right there.

I thought the same thing watching that clip and seeing Giorgi. I shudder to think what would have happened had it been Kofi! There seriously could have been an even uglier occurrence, especially after Sissoko giving Kofi that shot to the head earlier and then the little, sort of, clandestine “love tap” going back down the floor.

The more Underwood talks the more I am confident we are going to win tomorrow

Brad Underwood would like everyone to know HE IS NOT MAD AT ALL. NOPE. COMPLETELY NOT MAD. TOTALLY EVEN KEELED

I have a hard time understanding what he is saying most of the time, or what he means by what he says. I wonder if his players have that problem!
