Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

For sure. Not a fan of the notion that foul disparity = reffing issues. Sometimes a team just fouls more.

My first time watching any OSU this year. I wasnā€™t referring to any numerical disparity, meant that during the time I watched, they got away with hacking the defensive rebounder and some other very physical play. I also thought that was a foul on Kyle Young and an F1. In my day, you could rip through, but we donā€™t live on that planet anymore. Not sure how in the world Young gets away with that in CBB 2020.

Another B1G slugfest in Maryland as Maryland and Rutgers pound the rims into submission. 19-13 Rutgers at the under 8:00.

Rutgers length gonna be a problem?

Itā€™s asinine that Geo Baker got first team B1G votes over Ron Harper, Jr.

These refs are really letting them go at it lol

Man Rutgers kinda looks good. And I am loathe to admit that

Geo with a dagger. Love that guy.

Iā€™ve been on the Rutgers bandwagon since the preseason and Iā€™m full steam ahead right now. Young and Mathis actually look competent on offense too.

I was on record as saying I think Rutgers will be noticeably better than OSU this year so Iā€™m really looking forward to that game next week.

My mom used to teach at Rutgers. The scorn heaped on the school for the first decade or whatever in the B1G has largely seemed earned. But my hunch is that in time they field competitive teams. Just not that many reasons why they should not.

I know, they are pretty tough. Imagine if they had Mcconnell. Would just be a another solid player in that rotation.

I like Mathis and Jones a lot as well along with Johnson. With those three plus Geo and Harper and you got a tough /balanced roster.

Huhā€¦canā€™t say Iā€™m able to wrap my head around those exactly. PSU at 3-2 ahead of Michigan and MSU? Indiana seems to be boosted by their strong win over Providenceā€¦whoā€™s falling down the rankings quickly. Iā€™m not convinced.

I have no idea what to do with Illinois (is a Duke win all that impressive anymore?) or MSU.

Indiana has double-digit wins over Providence and Stanford on a neutral.

Thereā€™s a reason the preseason projections are still in there. Way too much noise in that data

Definitely noisy, but also speaks to how little weā€™ve learned about these teams without playing many legitimate games. Preseason adjustments and predictions have to do a lot of the legwork.

Absolutely. Hard to have any strong new takes on any team at this point

Also I never saw this mentioned here but Wisconsin took my idea and scheduled Illinois Chicago. They play at 8 tonight.

Loyola* and they rescheduled the Louisville game.

Right, duh. They play vs. Loyola, vs. Louisville, vs. Nebraska, and @ MSU all before Michigan plays again
