it’s a Hall of Calls night in Bloomington!

So is it possible that Minnesota may actually have a functional offense when you remove 31 minutes of Kalscheur? Despite Robbins playing injured Minnesota’s still in this because the freshmen guards are doing work on offense

This is the rare occasion where I would actually take Archie’s halftime adjustments over his opponent’s.

Minnesota looking like they want that first road victory.

That’s Izzo’s worst characteristic. He has a tendency to overcoach and micromanage everything including rotation.

these Brandon Johnson 3s are insanely bad. They’re not even close. Austin Davis can probably shoot 3s better than this.

Michigan is getting the OSU treatment because B1G knows what’s at stake for Michigan and the #1 seed/NCAA tourney. They want them as well rested as possible so they can make a deep run into the NCAA.

Michigan fans like to complain about OSU’s treatment but that works if your team is the top team in the conference/country.

Fondly remembering that game when he hit like 8 3’s against Iowa earlier this year. That just maaaay have been a fluke.

8/9 in that game, 5/36 (18.9%) the rest of the year.

Assuming IU hangs on here, this is a good result for the B1G. I think they were closer to the bubble than Minnesota entering this game. A NET top-30 (ish) road loss won’t knock the Gophers out by any means.

And increases the likelihood that Archie keeps his job … also good for the B1G. (Non-IU contingent).

yes this would have been an insta-fire loss IMO.

Does Minnesota need to win a road game to get in the tournament?

If they win out at home, they’ll get wins against U of I and Rutgers (and NW). Does 3 top 10 wins (assuming we, OSU and U of I stay top 10) overcome a 9-10 conference record? I’d think yes. But that plus a first round exit in the B1G tourney? Ehhhhhhhh.

Granted it’s a 64-68 team tournament and resumes matter but when does Minnesota not winning a road game going to hurt them?? Or can they just ride those home wins to a tourney bid?? Chance for a big win against Illinois this weekend but not many resume builders out there unless winning at home against Rutgers is a big one.

Are you speculating, or saying this with insider knowledge? Just curious. Because so often with institutions it’s really a matter of bumbling along and trying to get to the next day rather than Machiavellian scheming, and in this case particularly–including with number of wins to qualify for the championship and health–it just so often looks like the next day is going to make the picture that much clearer and/or force the issue one way or the other. . .

I think it’s hurting them now, no?

When Michigan played at Minnesota, I think it was him who had one of the worst misses I’ve ever seen at any level. Looked like a Cat 2 hurricane came through right after he released it.
