Yes, lost to Michigan in 1976 in the Final Four.
While I agree with this in general, Illinois fans are feeling particularly froggy these days. I checked in on Twitter earlier today and the sheer amounts of NaCl were pretty remarkable. This isnât just misguided Rutgers twitter from a few years ago trying to make Michigan their rival in football.
You know, itâs not bad. Feels like they jump through content quickly (v. Moving Screen), but not radical takes.
I mean they havenât made the Tournament since 2013, so they have a build up of salt over the years.
But Iâm sure it wonât be any better once they rightfully make the tournament this year.
I just donât see it with Hoggard. Heâs JAG to me. MSU better hope that Akins can get up to speed and be a good PG for them. Akins has the athleticism and shooting but heâs more of a combo guard to me. Best case scenario for Akins is a hybrid guard who can do PG things but is a threat to score.

Buckets, who is better: Foster Loyer or Iowa?
Depends on what the activity is. Falling? Loyer. Shooting? Iowa. Defense? Tie.
I think Hoggard is hard to judge as a true freshman combo guard who is being forced to play a bigger role that was planned. Simpson was bad as a freshman and so was Brooks.
I think he could be a valuable piece in their rotation off the bench but you arenât likely winning a lot if heâs leading the team.
As what, though? He doesnât appear to be a shooter, penetrator, distributor, defenderâŚ
Donât get me wrongâŚI donât want to defend a guy that looks pretty rough right now and plays for our rival. But what would you have said about Simpson or Brooks at this same point in their career?
I think it is too early to tell what he could be in a reduced roleâŚbut all signs are pointing in the wrong direction. Really makes you wonder what happened with Terry.
Brooks was a statistically impressive defender as a freshman, IIRC. Or I should say there were more statistical indications of his future value.
This may sound like a backhanded compliment but there were long stretches yesterday where Hoggard was the only MSU player clapping, shouting, floor slapping (to MSUâs detriment, admittedly).
Tum Tum was statistically useless for four years but he started on a Final Four team and won three (I think?) banners. Izzo finds a way to play his leaders â maybe thatâs Hoggard. I dunno.
Whatâs a Hoiberg practice look like?
They havenât made the tourney in eight years? And they havenât had football or hockey to ease the pain. Rough decade for themâŚ
Nebraska hanging in there so far. For a last-place team theyâre really not that bad.
Agree. They could finish in the top half of the Pac-12
Agree as to Brooks, but X was giving us 7-8 solid minutes by the end of the year.
Andy Katz looking extremely greasy tonight, what on earth is that hair product
Looks like he was bobbing for apples in a vat of Crisco
