Pretty much nailed it.
MSU doesnât need to be at one site. Theyâre right down the road.
I would think that the reason would be to balance out home/away games if weâre having an Indiana back to back. But maybe they donât care about that (or maybe Indiana doesnât become a back to back).
Also, I feel like weâre running out of time to have a game scheduled on Feb 16 if thatâs apart of the 20 game plan.
I also think thatâs the game you would least like to play if you are Michigan given the recovery impact of the first game back.
Iâd like to thank my wife for not judging me for staring at KenPom and Torvik stats every evening while a Big Ten game drones on in the background.
Does NB collect any revenue for these away games? Any financial incentive? Agree that this could be a grim portent for end-of-season demands on Michigan.
Interesting. Washington seems to be the rare player that youâd rather them go to their dominant hand side. Sample size thing or something more there?
I mean, he shoots a lot â over 70 3PA from both sides of the court â which is why I think it is so strange.
can I see a chart for last year?
That is one of the stranger things Iâve ever seen. (Almost as strange as Dylan sitting in his living room messing around with all of these random stat tidbits on a Friday morning.)
I canât even think of a reason why this would be. Maybe thereâs something goofy where his shots on one side of the court are more catch-and-shoot while the other side come off ball screens or something?
This sort of sums up the offensive struggles for MSU. Though at least Langford and Watts arenât taking that many of their shots at the rim. (Which is a back handed compliment because we all know that theyâre replacing this inefficient rim attempts with inefficient floaters and long 2s.)
The trend doesnât translate to last year
This is totally anecdotal and 0% scientific but in the OSU games Iâve watched it seems like he gets a lot of screens set for him on the left-center three-point wing.
And Iâve officially been proven wrongâŚ
Good question, but thereâs at least a partial answer in the latest pod. BQ was clear that the conference is not dictating to the schools. Schools have input and can put their foot down on a plan they do not like. So maybe Nebraska is fine with this. Should Michigan be? IMO absolutely not, for multiple reasons.
I agree with Dylanâs expectation of 18 games. Theyâll cancel the rematches against PSU and Nâwestern. This solution has something for everyone: a lighter load for the players, respects the conferenceâs desire to have every team play at least once and to protect rivalries. Wardeâs AD gets to look like itâs done something that it gets to promote as in the best interests of student-athletes.
That said, maybe the players and the team might want to play those two games. They are expected wins, and the players and the team want to win the conference title. Do they want that badly enough to trade off resting their bodies ahead of the tournament? Dunno.
MSU will stay home and home, but back to back I would imagine.
Itâs never a bad thing when MSU sucks, but it would have been just wonderful fun to do this with both teams actually good. Sweeping a weekend home-and-home would be really memorable and one-time bragging rights.
