As an older guy, I long associated MD with good teams, from their days in the ACC. There was speculation when they first moved whether the B1G was a step down, in fact. As the big public U in that neck of the woods, I have to think there are lots of boosters who think they should do better. I never thought that Turgeon was as bad as people insisted, but he has not gotten over the hump there. The older I get the more I have to admit that having a charismatic coach to recruit is a very big part of the picture. . .
Yeah, maybe he’d feel like he’s coming home. My brother in law’s brother lives in Wichita and. . . wow, is that far from the rest of the universe, culturally, geographically. . .
I’d like to have some additional data from teams like Villanova that also had a long pause. Saying that PSU, MSU, and Nebraska shot poorly is like saying water is wet.
Purdue’s schedule down the stretch is incredibly light, especially by B1G gauntlet standards. They have an outside chance at catching us in the standings. I think we are cheering for Minnesota here. Not sure about a prediction though
Turgeon should absolutely leave for Wichita if that’s on the table. He almost assuredly is getting fired at Maryland as soon as it’s financially tenable.
