Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

I think the Osu game is regular CBS as well

I can’t imagine the Michigan-OSU game is actually on CBSSN considering both teams are currently top 10 in the polls, and it’s Michigan-OSU. I’d imagine they’re saying CBS Sports for now to allow for some ambiguity just in case but that’s gotta be a CBS game, right?

I hope so because I don’t get that channel nor do my parents from whom I occasionally borrow cable provider info.

It sure would be asinine to actually show it on CBSSN considering that’s a network for mid-majors.

Regarding tonight’s games, do we think Indiana has any shot against Illinois?

Money says ā€œno.ā€ Heart says, ā€œI hope so because that separates U-M from the Illinois one more game in the loss column.ā€

Yes – OSU game is on CBS.

Not sure but a curious stat for me is that in 5 of IU’s last 6 games, they’ve ended with an average deficit yet a 3-3 record. They’ve been staging a bunch of big comebacks.

Illinois had its tale of two halves against Northwestern…wouldn’t be surprised if the winning team tonight is down by 15 at some point.

Guessing the intern who put out that Tweet didn’t know there was a CBS Sports channel.

Tonight is a great night for big ten (and college) hoops. Excited to be glued to TV!
I’m sorry to say that I’ll be rooting for MSU, even if I expect a huge blowout. Hope IU and PSU show up to play. Although I like Baylor a lot, I’ll be rooting for the underdog here.

Kinda brutal for an early turnaround for that Wisconsin game. And a 9PM home game against Rutgers makes zero sense.

Yes, Indiana has a shot against Illinois. Both teams have shown the ability to play well as well as the ability to play awful. Illinois top level is better than Indiana’s but if Indiana is on their game and Illinois isn’t they absolutely can win.

This offseason will be wild for MSU. You could probably go down their entire roster and wonder what the fate of those guys will be - to stay or go. I’m not sure ANY of them are a sure thing either way.

I personally think Henry is going to leave. He’s put up with so much at MSU and I don’t think there’s any more potential for Izzo to squeeze out of him. If they were set up for a major title run and staying would give him that chance…but they aren’t. He would be staying for a rebuild. He gone…

While I have always been of the opinion that Watts is a bit over-rated…I still think fixing his game is a key to their ceiling. I think Watts/Akins need to get plenty of the back-court minutes in some combination. Then you can fill out the rest with whoever is still around between Loyer, Hoggard, and Brown. (I have always liked Brown…not sure why he’s never figured it out.

Hauser and Hall are solid players and should factor in a lot at PF/C. Then you have to find Christie a bunch of minutes. No clue what to do with the rest of the minutes at center - and clearly Izzo doesn’t know either.

Currently watching Illinois’ upset defeat of Indiana from 2013. Here’s hoping for a role reversal in 2021!

I’m pretty interested in this Purdue Maryland game. Normally I’d be leaning Maryland but they have been so wildly unpredictable this season. I’d like to see them win it and give us some more room in the standings though

Loyer guarding Bohannon? What was that spread again?

Credit to Rocket Watts for asking to be moved to the bench again. Historically selfless player

It really wasnt fair for Izzo to put Watts in a position where he needed to make shots, all credit to the coach for coming to grips with the unfair request.

sort of feels like Watts will be a transfer candidate after the season
