Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

1 of Reuvers or Potter would have to leave you’d think. Whether a grad transfer or otherwise. Trice has gotta be ready to move on you’d think. Davison is the kind of guy that would use 10 years of college ball up if he could, same with Potter. So I’ll guess those 2 are around next year. Don’t know what caliber of team that makes them.

Aleem Ford is shooting Wisconsin back into this game

I’m not sure anymore…we already have a H2H win over Wisconsin and now OSU is charging into the contender tier

The quality of play of this game has not been the best over the last couple minutes.

It’s definitely helpful. Osu has 4 losses already. It’d take a miracle for them to win the conference

yeah but I hate OSU and I don’t want them to win any games ever

As a HS ref, that always confuses me to see the Lead official come off the baseline to call that foul at the 3-point line, with Trail 5-feet away. No arguments with the call, it was absolutely the right call. It’s just the PCA’s in college are so much different than HS. Great call by Bo to have a patient whistle and come off the baseline with that.

This game is just limping to the finish. OSU seems to have no idea how to play with a lead but UW is failing to take advantage with their own miscues. Ugly.

Between their home Purdue game, the NW loss and even the Illinois win, OSU has had a tendency to cr@p games away late this season.

Plus they still have 2 games vs Iowa left, a game vs us, a game vs Illinois, plus another 3 road games.

Took about 5 minutes for these commentators to catch on that this is a potential 10 second issue.

Yeah Wisconsin’s 2 games back with a schedule that should result in at least one game worse.

Maybe next year they’ll all come back again and postpone their various overseas careers and live up to their preseason top 10 expectations.

If you are going to come back in the standings… you want to have a chance to play the teams you are chasing. I get that the schedule is harder but win a few of those games and the race changes quickly.

Ohio State is such a weird team. Can’t really figure them out. Swept by Purdue but wins over Illinois and Wisconsin.

Jim Spanarkel is one of my favorite names to say. I don’t know why but it sounds funny.

Mike smith should be in the top 25. He’s in that 21-25 range

We are definitely in the driver’s seat at this point. Obviously the “a lot of games to be played” caveat applies, but objectively it seems like we have a great shot (50+%) of at least getting a share.

Is that true? I get you need to make up games, and directly beating a team is the best way. But let’s say Minnesota had won today and had 4 conference losses like OSU.

Wouldn’t you rather be them, with one game left against a ranked opponent, rather than OSU who has 4? For two teams of the same quality, Minnesota’s schedule would almost certainly result in a better expected record, and that’s really what you’re aiming for.

Towards the end of season I can buy what you’re saying more, but with 50%+ of the conference season remaining I’d rather rack up wins and have the easier path to that arbitrary 15 win mark (or whatever you choose) that’ll give you a title, and bank on the rest of conference cannibalizing itself enough to get you back in the race.
