Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

Announcer said one of Bohannons worst games of his career. Captain Obvious.
Was Bohannon shut out?

Bohannon was a cool 0-9 from the field, so at least a little of column B.

I guess I can’t quit this gimmick. Purdue by 40

Missed the game until the last 2 minutes. How did IU hold the Iowa offense in check?

"And what happened then? Well, in Hoosierville they say that Archie Island grew three sizes that day. And then the true meaning of Big Ten season came through , and Archie found the strength of ten Archies plus two."

Im not kidding. I watched 3 Iowa games this season: Gonzaga, Minnesota and tonight. I need to block time on my calendar more often

He was talking about those Mickey mouse balloons, you know the Mickey balloon inside the round balloon. . .

Beautiful graph

I think I have literally never seen a run like that. An ultra-elite offense doesn’t make a single basket at home for 12 minutes

You must watch us play them.

Nunge gets a putback at 12:00. Iowa doesn’t make a field goal again until a meaningless layup by Joe Toussaint with 50 seconds left.

What.

If they’re a game behind Michigan, please don’t

MSU is rising in the conference standings, having now soared above Rutgers. If they keep this up they will likely pass Northwestern soon.

Thanks for even reminding me that place existed!

Just remembered something. Dylan opined a few pods ago that MSU @ Iowa was actually a good bounceback opportunity for MSU following the Purdue meltdown because it would be low stakes, low expectations, and the Iowa defense could help MSU’s players get some confidence back. And ultimately there would be a window, albeit narrow, for a season-altering upset. That’s what happened tonight…for IU. This game could have belonged to MSU were it not for the postponement.

I know the game doesn’t really work like that, it’s too transitive and hypothetical…but still.

I actually think Indiana is a bit better than their record indicates. They have had some good performances on the road. Lost at the buzzer to Florida St, lost in OT to Wisconsin, close game against Illinois. They finally broke through tonight.

That is true. If any one of those results had flipped we might be talking about them as one of the unambiguously good teams in the B1G.

I just noticed a couple of things on the Torvik B1G page:

  • Indiana has the 2nd hardest remaining B1G schedule even after tonight so this was a huge win for them down the stretch.
  • OSU has played the #12 B1G SOS so far and has the hardest remaining. But at least they have a winning record, unlike…
  • MSU, who is 2-4 in the B1G despite the #11 SOS. They are #3 the rest of the way.
  • Purdue’s remaining road games are Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Penn State, with the #14 overall SOS. They are already hot but they could catapult themselves into a bonafide B1G title contender.

I can’t tell you how glad I am that sportsbooks in Michigan didn’t start up yesterday.
