Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

Back before I got married I too had quite a few zippered byes.

Juwan needs a new laptop with a better camera.

MSU only has a 4 man center rotation now

Worry about what that means moving forward though… a lot of “just two positives” situations have led to a shutdown.

Yeah I was just making a dumb joke

Exactly…it usually takes 4-5 days after exposure for someone to test positive.

The next few days are probably the key risk period.

I’d be surprised if tomorrow’s game happens

Forum dare: come up with a better retort than this one.

With the caveat that I genuinely hope none of the players suffer from this – (PAY THE PLAYERS ALREADY YOU JERKS) – I am legitimately concerned that if we’re gonna play, then play a full slate of games and make sure nobody ends up with an asterisk on their outright conference championship. It would be a double disservice to players to put them in harm’s way and in addition to that carelessly devalue any accomplishments they might achieve together in the process.

I know we have the collapsible byes and all, but I’m hoping the option is there for May Madness if it’s necessary to just slow things down a little.

Yeah, the national picture with NCAA basketball and the NBA too is not pretty. At least it doesn’t appear that either is playing the games we saw the NFL and some college football programs play this fall (ie, they are pulling the plug on games pretty readily, rather that doing what some (ahem, Clemson) did in football or the entire NFL did).

am i the only thinking that the players should be given the vaccines, now after the healthcare workers all got their first dose.

I would think that with the NCAA Tournament pretty much THE revenue source for the NCAA, the NCAA would go ahead and buy enough doses for the men’s (and women’s because of Title IX) basketball teams. Not sure why they can’t do it privately with Pfizer.

No, elderly.

Pfizer doesn’t exactly have a ton of doses laying around. I don’t think the US (or other countries) would be happy if they sold doses to a non-essential private entity.

It is not a lot dosages to ask in the grand scheme of things, in exchange, NCAA will run programs to inform general public about the vaccination programs during the broadcast games. I think that is a win-win situation.

The penn st Wisconsin game on the 27th right in the middle of the collapsible bye week doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe MIchigan PSU on the 25th would still make sense though? Would much rather see everyone get caught up as soon as possible rather than hope there is time later
