Dakich can be annoying and obnoxious, but there’s an entertaining feel to his act. The energy, the confidence, his vocal style. Bardo lacks interesting things to say, tries too hard, has little emotion in his voice, and forces it.
Robbie Hummel offsets his banal tone with interesting things to say. Dakich and Vitale get excited and emotional trying to grab their audience. Bardo…just…is.
Iowa excelling in the KenPom Final Minute. Bohannon step back 3,. Then Wieskamp tries to steal the ball with 20 seconds left while up 14 but gets called for a foul
If Michigan doesn’t win the BIG this season, my second choice would be Iowa, then Illinois, and last by a wide margin, Wisconsin. I am of course referring to the 4 prohibitive favorites. I don’t like Wisconsin, but I would root for them ahead of MSU, if MSU weren’t a cellar dweller this season
I on the other hand have always been a bit of a fan of OSU basketball. Never liked their football team but have enjoyed their bball teams going back to the days of Toledo’s own, Kelvin Ransey
I’ve become downright pessimistic about the prospects of meaningful upsets. Seems like the wind has gone completely out of the sails of upstarts like Minnesota, Chris Collins, Maryland, and Penn State doesn’t even play anymore. I think Indiana might still have a chance to ruin someone’s season, but Archie Miller might disagree with me.
Interesting, and maybe informative, to see Liam Robbins struggle against Dickinson and Garza recently. I like Robbins game, he certainly dominated the Buckeyes; not so much against 2 of the top 3 bigs in the conference. Probably 2 to of the top bigs in the country, though I’m hesitant because I really am not familiar with the top bigs in the country
To be fair we might soon get to the point where an MSU win is an upset.
In an ideal scenario we keep seeing the top 4 separate themselves enough so any loss by a top 4 to to a non top 4 team is a noticeable upset. And if we get to that point, teams like MSU, OSU, Indiana and Rutgers I think can all still pull off upsets on a semi regular basis. And then teams like Purdue, NW and Minnesota will still have an outside shot any given night.
I doubt we’ll see anything big from Maryland, PSU, or Nebraska. But that being said we’ve already gotten noticeable upsets from Maryland, Minnesota and Rutgers this year. This early in this season for that to have happened, without any of the top 4 playing each other yet, and with us not having accrued any of those losses, isn’t too bad.
Wisconsin has beaten MSU and Indiana from tiers 1 and 2 but also lost at home to Maryland.
Iowa has beaten Rutgers but also lost on the road to Minnesota.
Illinois has beaten Indiana but lost to Rutgers on the road.
We really haven’t had much action within tier 1, but also between tiers 1 and 2. Granted that could also be part of the reason we’re seeing tier 1 separate themselves so much this early (relatively easy SOS’s), but I think that means some B1G cannibalism is coming.
Obvious caveat being these tiers are arbitrary and could easily be changed. Putting MSU in tier 2 seems like a stretch right now, but I think the general point remains.
