Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

It’s crazy to me how good his numbers were in EYBL. I’m guessing he must have been killer pulling up from 3 but his confidence was destroyed as a freshman?

I thought we eventually offered Washington? Do I remember incorrectly?

I think so, but IIRC it was late and the damage was already done

Yeah maybe it’s harsh. Obviously Washington lacked something as a recruit to get passed over like that. But I’m sure MSU fans watch him and watch Loyer and go :face_vomiting:

Come to think of it, imagine Washington running our bench unit right now while OSU has no guards at all…darn

Loyer is quickly becoming my favorite Spartan.

If I remember right, I’m not sure DeJulius and Washington were eager to play together.

Just read on the MSU board that Trevion Williams was begging for an MSU offer, too.

IIRC he played AAU with Dejulius and I think that was almost a negative factor for Michigan because they didn’t want to share the ball

Edit: just saw Dylan posted something similar

I can’t explain it either.

I know it has been stated that MSU needs to try their small lineup a bit more to get their best pieces on the floor. But I just can’t get over why Izzo ran with it during crunch time. There was NO chance for Hall or Hauser to check Williams or rebound over Edy. Should have went offense/defense at the very least. He plays all those other 5’s why not at the end of the game. Probably lost the game for them. You hate to see it

Yeah that thread is where I stole the gif from

I’m not sure that part is true, though. Loyer over Washington I remember but MSU offered Trevion plenty early. He just didn’t want to go there

There are so many wonderful arcs going tonight that I’ll just smile and like life for a bit.

That’s an interesting take. As much as many of us were hoping DDJ or Castleton would stay…they hadn’t played well and we wanted them as bench guys. Izzo has probably thought he could maximize their potential by year three. Such a weird class for both schools that we were all excited about and really hasn’t panned out.

I don’t mind taking a guy like Kithier as your third center who gives you solid minutes later - like Davis.

DDJ and Castleton are doing pretty well on their new teams, both could carve out a role had stayed, but trading Castleton for Brown definitely benefits the team.

I might be off base, having not watched much EYBL, but I would be very surprised if defense is anywhere near the level Loyer faces in the BIG. Loyer playing b-ball at the wrong level is his biggest sin.

The Big Ten holds numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 on Kenpom. Well, Michigan is tied at 7 with Texas. But he lists us first!
