If this is your first Purdue game this year it’s very understandable not to be aware of his passing ability. It kinda came out of nowhere this year.
7-13 projected conference record. No way they get in with that, right?
They will and be ranked 24th at the time.
So just to be clear.
Izzo rode a Joey Hauser and Malik Hall frontcourt the entire stretch run of the second half while Trevion Williams scored 24 second half points (to MSU’s 23 second half points) LOL
After calling timeout up one with a 46% free throw shooter at the line and a 7’4” freshman center checking into the game to rebound for Purdue, Izzo left Hauser and Hall in the game to rebound with Sissoko, Bingham, Kithier and Marble on the bench.
After Purdue wins possession and calls another timeout, Izzo leaves Hall and Hauser in (Hall draws the Trevion assignment) and Trevion predictably hits a game winner while two shot blockers, a bruiser and their actual starting center watch from the bench.
L O effing L! Was Hall in for his high post passing???
MSU’s C rotation minutes tonight:
Bingham 10
Kithier 8
Marble 8
Sissoko 8
Hauser 6
That can’t possibly be the best way to manage that
You guys who wade into the waters of MSU message boards are brave. It legitimately stresses me out and makes me lose hope for humanity lol.
That might be their one hope against Hunter…use all of those fouls to beat him up since they don’t seem to care about any of their five centers playing more than 8 minutes.
Seriously…who carries that many centers in 2021 anyway?
2 weeks into January and Izzo is still playing legit 12 guys. Common sense says at least limit the rotation by matchups. It just makes no sense
I would think that’s a legit question for BQ to ask in a presser…does Izzo see a tighter rotation than literally everyone with a scholarship helping in future games?
I mean that’s just free points for Hunter. Most of those guys couldn’t hurt Hunter if they had a free punch.
If you have 5 centers you have 0 centers. Or something like that right?
In this case I think that is totally true
If you have 5 centers you have 0 centers.
Also if you have 0 point guards you have 0 point guards.
That is genuinely insane. I can’t believe what I’m reading
A really fascinating thing in the M-MSU dynamic this year is the 2018 recruiting class. Both teams brought in 5 guys, both filled with guys in the 50-125 range and expected to be the foundation of both programs.
I said a few times that the overall lack of production the 2018 class gave us was going to put Juwan in a tough spot. Iggy was great, but was OAD. Castleton and Dejulius both transfer while providing nothing more than some decent bench minutes at times. Nunez… Johns is the enigma we all want to break through. But none of them start for our team this year. and only 2 are on the team one of which literally never plays and the other is the 7th or 8th man.
Meanwhile all 5 of MSU’s 2018 class is on the team: Bingham, Brown, Henry, Loyer, Kithier. No idea what Izzo saw in Kithier. Henry and Brown were supposed to have break out seasons this year, and Henry is solid but they need more from him, and today Brown played 6 minutes?? Loyer is a 10 MPG bench piece at best at this level. Bingham is kind of their Brandon Johns as a guy they want to be good but just hasn’t shown any consistency.
So I think Izzo’s ability to make sure no one ever transfers kind of hurt them? Like they have this backload of guys that just didn’t really workout and haven’t developed.
Meanwhile Michigan has weathered that recruiting class with an impact freshman and transfers
I like taking a guy like Kithier if it’s like “Hey, play crazy hard, learn the playbook like it’s a full time job, and give us some quality backup minutes in your upperclassmen years.” When that guy ends up starting… Well…
It must especially sting when you consider GR Christian’s Duane Washington was in the same class, begging for an MSU offer that never came. Sure hindsight is 20/20 and Loyer was somehow ranked higher in the composite, but is anyone really surprised that Foster Loyer isn’t capable of starter minutes? Spot-up shooting at 5’9" can’t make up for this:
I like the trajectory of both U-M and MSU very much for the next few years.
In fairness, he was kind of begging for an offer from us and we took Nunez. Which I hate to pile on the guy but was a baffling offer. The guy say on the bench his senior year of HS at a public school.
