Wow I didn’t realize Tyrese had those numbers. Makes more sense, but I just didn’t see him as a top-10 pick after watching him this year.
Kid had 25 ,9, 5 and 4 against Michigan. He was pretty damn good.
Yeah I guess I just thought 6 or 7 seemed really high. Makes some sense though when I factor in the fact that there haven’t been too many breakout stars this year, and the freshman aren’t looking as good as they once did. Not a super strong class.
This is pretty much perfect analysis. Ayo is better in transition and definitely has some value but @kturnup nailed it.
Yeah his shooting form throws me off too. Makes me wonder if the range will translate to the NBA 3 point line. Lonzo Ball’s form was much worse, but he was a 41% 3pt shooter in college and shot 30-32% in his first two years in the league (he has since tweaked his form and is up to 36% this year). So I think the question is fair about the unorthodox form translating. Halliburton an excellent facilitator though and this year’s draft is pretty weak so if you’re in the market for a PG, who if not him? Cole Anthony has not lived up to the hype thus far.
Strangely perhaps, my personal comp for what I see Ayo becoming is the Great Value version of Jamal Crawford.
To be fair to Chambers, forcing left does not mean allowing a guy to dribble with his left hand down the middle twice in a row.
But it also serves as a reminder that we shouldn’t automatically assume/place blame to certain people. I think if this footage was unknown, the players would have shouldered all of the blame.
I remember being terrified that the UM vs ISU game might come down to a last minute play, after seeing Tyrese play. The fear being that he might make a high level play, and steal the game.
My hopes for the rest of the season:
- Pass MSU in the Big Ten Standings;
- Win the Big Ten Tournament;
- Final Four
(Actually was going to say Sweet Sixteen. But the Final Four is only a couple more wins away!)
Yep, the fact that Ayo driving left led to 2 buckets doesn’t mean that it was bad coaching (and I know Eric was careful to not say that). Coaches should coach to tendencies, and that’s what Chambers was doing. The fact that Ayo still made good things happen; well, that’s just on Ayo.
Yeah, spot on. You have to coach to tendencies. My guys got torched from three against a poor shooting team earlier this year, and it was part of our game plan to clog the paint and force them to beat us from outside. They did. What can you do. The kids teased me about it a bit, but it’s about getting the best chance to win. Something in the scout must have tipped PSU to overplaying the right (teams have taken a similar approach to Simpson in the past, particularly late last year). Sometimes, guys just make plays.
Incredibly interesting game coming up now. Who do y’all have? I can’t imagine the Indiana team we saw last weekend beating any team with a pulse on the road.
Early on Minny is getting whatever it wants. IU is baaad on D.
Indiana vs Minnesota: loser gets John Beilein
It is fairly embarrassing that IU’s ball screen defense is as bad as it is in late February.
Would you bring back Archie if you were Fred Glass (IU AD)? I mean, I guess they could make a run but the product 25 games in doesn’t inspire confidence.
Devonte Green just swished a 3/4-court heave, too bad it was about a half-second after the first half buzzer.
Didn’t want to lower his shooting percentage
I’m a sucker for continuity. Yes.
Ya know, kinda fun watcing a B1G bubble game after your team gutted out a win.
