Sleeping on Austin Davis still, eh?

The Poole slander is straight disrespectful. Like Dejulius and Brooks are gonna be better.

So you slander DeJuluis and Brooks?

I haven’t seen this many shots taken towards a Michigan player since… well, I can’t even remember a time. Maybe Eli, unfortunately.

What’s the slander? Poole at his best was fantastic, he played poorly for most of the final three months of the season and Michigan’s offense suffered as a result.

The problem is that Michigan couldn’t really find a backup last year that it could trust which isn’t really an endorsement of the returners that could replace him.

I think the idea that Poole leaving will help the offense (or at least won’t impact it whatsoever) makes little sense considering the replacements and in my opinion is based off of animosity towards how he left rather than rational takes on the roster.

Hopefully DeJuluis and Brooks improve. Put the work in the offseason and listen to Howard.

I imagine the team chemistry gotta a little messy, stuff like that that comes out later usually is brewing for awhile.

It’s one of the most infuriating takes in the history of the board IMO. Right up there with the 2016 Fire Beilein saga. Poole was legitimately an all American level scorer for half a season last year and was one of the primary reasons the team overachieved to the point of being ranked top 5 nationally.

I have stated a number of times that Poole is a really nice person and a good representative of the university. He just wasn’t irreplaceable. I believe just the opposite from a basketball perspective.

Mr. Poole is that you? Give me a break.

It’s there. Usually in subtle shots about step back 3s

Does anyone know if the press conference Thursday will be on BTN?

Disrespecting his step-back 3’s isn’t slander. They were legitimately bad.

Can we start a Jordan Poole thread and leave this to coaching

Eli Brooks passing up open threes, Charles Matthews’ 0-25 stretch on midrange jumpers, Iggy’s season-long tunnel vision, Simpson getting outplayed by Winston 3 straight games (and whatever his Texas Tech performance was) are all equally as legitimately bad as Poole’s step back threes IMO but Poole gets blamed as if him simply leaving the roster will magically fix everything.

Yeah this Poole bashing is pretty funny. It’s like when a recruit picks some other school and the recruitniks state he was a bum anyway.

Not really. Poole was rightly criticized for his poor shot selection and mercurial play throughout the season. Nothing hindsight about it.

Yes, but Michigan shot a lot of 3s under Beilein. It is possible to create a very good offense with less reliance on 3s than Beilein’s teams had. From a stats perspective:
39.9% of Michigan’s FG attempts were 3s last season (43.3% in 17-18, 45.1% in 16-17, 43.0% in 15-16, 40.4% in the injury doomed 14-15 season).

By comparison, Golden State had the top offensive efficiency rating in the NBA this season; 38.3% of its FGs were 3pt attempts, followed by HOU (51.9%), POR (33.9%), MIL (41.9%), TOR (37.9%). Or just looking at Golden State — the team associated with creative efficient offense — in 2017-18 took 3s on 34.0% of its Field Goal attempts (35.8 in 2016-17, 36.2 in 15-16, 31.0 in 14-15).

So there’s a wide range of how reliant top offenses are on 3pters. And Beilein’s offenses tend to be more reliant on 3s than other effective offensive systems. Michigan next season can theoretically dial back the reliance on 3s and still be within the floor spacing range of other successful offensive systems.

Good question. If it isn’t live, I’d have to imagine it will be talked about and at least partially replayed by B1G highlight shows throughout the day?

You know how you replace Poole?? By hiring a really good assistant who recruits well. Has anyone heard anything about who we might be hiring yet??
