2024 Olympic Basketball

It’s funny because they were so bad in the youth events we all watched (or at least I watched to cut highlights of) back when Franz and Moe were playing. They were usually in the B Division for a lot of the big Europe stuff.

You might need to ask ChatGPT to write an apology letter to Dennis Schroder by the end of next week.

Dear Dennis Schröder,

I hope this letter finds you well. I feel compelled to address your recent performance in the FIBA games.

Despite my persistent skepticism about your skills and your overall impact on the court, I begrudgingly acknowledge that your contributions during the tournament were more significant than I anticipated. It appears that you played a crucial role in your team’s performance, and for that, I owe you a grudging apology.

However, it’s important to note that while you did show improvement, my opinion about your game remains unchanged. Frankly, I still think you’re a giant dingus. Consistency and excellence at the highest level are areas where I believe you still have room for improvement.

That said, credit where it’s due – you did make a noticeable impact during the FIBA games. While I’m not entirely convinced of your abilities, I can begrudgingly admit that you performed better than I expected.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]

I’m sure he would enjoy receiving this just as much as an athlete would like receiving a chat GPT-ed letter from a child, frankly

I mean, Franz Wagner is f’n awesome is a simple massive part of it right?

Giannis and Jokic are awesome but don’t really have any real help. Canada has basically always been disfunctional AFAIK.

Building your team around a 22 year old coming into his prime who just signed a max extension is a good spot to be in.

Dude carried Michigan to an incredible season. He’s helped elevate the Magic. Germany. He’s an incredible hooper.

I think it’s pretty obvious you’d take France’s NBA players in the NBA over Germany’s.

Yeah, Gobert and Wemby may be better pros than anyone on Germany but tough when it’s clearly hard for them to share the floor offensively, and nobody can dribble

Franz is a great player but the level he’s hit in the NBA is merely average-ish and I don’t think most observers see him as a slam dunk future all star. I don’t think anybody sees All NBA potential.

Wemby is very likely already much better than Franz. Rudy obviously is.

The FIBA game plus playing as a team is weighing a lot here.

Right I think that goes with what I was saying. “Talent that’s up there with anyone besides the US” and I compared them to Spain that had the Gasol bros

He’s not as good as either of those guys, yet

Wasn’t trying to disagree! Just emphasize. Guy is a baller.

French basketball also has a long history of disfunction!

Their starting backcourt is a guy who just DNP-CD’d two NBA seasons and the 4th guard on Monaco

Pau and Marc were much better at their peak than Franz and Mo.

There’s some sauce here that I think is a little more interesting than y’all are giving credit.

Borderline all-star isn’t average imo. He’s really good. Wasn’t a coincidence the poverty Magic were a 4 seed

Wouldn’t not having a PG mean that you wouldn’t take their pros over Germany, which has a pro PG?

My takeaway is that Mo Wagner is the Wemby stopper!

Dk what to tell you. He’s exactly average for his career in TS on OK usage. NBA watchers aren’t like “wow it’s the next Paul George”.
