This shot selection down by 1 in an elimination game blows my mind. NBA is different lol

I don’t want Trae Young on my team and I don’t particularly enjoy watching him, but sometimes he’s a bad man

It’s just such an mgl thing to say.

Wasn’t directed just at mgl. Just a tough life being a trae young fan

I think NBA players literally voted him their least favorite player

Edit:

Sorry, most over-rated

Regardless not a sign of respect

Trae Young has been voted the most overrated player in the NBA, according to an anonymous poll of 54 NBA players conducted by Sam Amick and Josh Robbins on The Athletic

He literally got 14% of the vote for most overrated

So like 8 people said it

He’s become so maligned that at this point he’s underrated

I really don’t want him to be on this path, but he is a Crime In Sports episode manifesting.

Yeah I’m obviously not a Trae Young guy but if you’re mostly a college hoops watcher, the shot making ability of NBA guys is eons better and Young is clearly towards the top end of that spectrum

I 100% buy that in a “final possession” situation where the defense is turned to 11 you’re better off having Trae pull from deep where he won’t be blocked or stripped (or really contested) than worrying about him getting a shot off over one of the best shot blocking teams in the league all of whom will be helping on his drive.

Dying at someone nobody has heard of (outside of maybe UDM heads over the age of 40) turning Trae’s three into his weird personal grudge that TV won’t have him on (they won’t have me on either!)

He’s right, no script anywhere has Trae Young as the best PG in the league

I don’t get where this weird obsession with hating Trae comes from? ‘Best pg in the league’…that’s not even far away from the truth. Who’s the consensus best pg in the league? Morant, Luka, Harden…? Trae has the skills and playoff performances to go toe to toe with any of them.

NBA reddit seem to hate him (before the GW shot last night).

Also, the anonymous NBA player survey has him as the most overrated player but they asked like 8 players so take it with a grain of salt.

Trae clearly embraced being the villian/heel because he thrives off from the hostile crowd rooting against him.

it is unbelievable to turn on nba games after a season of watching college games and seeing how casual 3s are. when i set the baseline as “college shooting” it feels like everyone in the NBA shoots 80%+ on 3s

I don’t hate Trae, I like having villains in sports. I’m not moving Steph off to the side just because we’re ready for something new

The shotmaking and perimeter shooting is why casual fans thinks NBA doesn’t play defense. It’s so much harder to play defense because of 1. no handchecking, 2. illegal defense, 3. higher level of skills and players being bigger, stronger and faster than in the past.

Going from NBA to college is jarring because college players misses a lot of shots and there are a lot of bad offense throughout the whole level.

Liking the post wasn’t enough.

100% - people attribute what is mostly rule based to “bad defense/effort” (I watch 70+ regular season games a year and most of the playoffs, I can guarantee anyone the effort is not down - what is down is player availability), combined with how good the offensive skill level has become.
