There’s unquestionably less friction for offenses in the NBA, but it’s not because NBA players aren’t defending. It’s structural. Time for some rules changes in favor of defense, IMO.
I don’t hate Trae but personally i would put guys like Murray/Fox/Brunson ahead of him. Longevity wise obviously CP3
I would also add that most NBA lineups have almost no one you can help off of. Even the bad shooters are at least lob threats or someone that’s athletic enough to make you account for them.
A play made in a Michigan game that’ll make me jump out of my seat, happens like 20 times in an NBA game.
definitely true int he playoffs - and teams that do have a guy you can help off of get run out pretty quickly (see: the Cavaliers)
at the risk of angering kturnup again, there has absolutely been a constant drumbeat for 3 years anonymous teammates and even coaches that all hate working with him.
He’s definitely a gifted offensive player, he is probably the absolute worst defender in a starting 5 in the league.
Lloyd got run off (but he lost his entire locker room so it wasn’t just Trae alone). McMillian got run off by Trae. As of now, Trae probably has a coach killer label.
He’s absolutely a gifted offensive player. His shotmaking, vision and pace are at an elite level. His defense has been awful though he has improved in that regard, but he’s still a minus defender.
What doesn’t help is the Hawks 3 and D wing players did not pan out.
Also our ownership and front office absolutely stink besides being pretty good at making picks in the 15-23 range
Yeah the Reddish pick was clearly trash and the Hunter pick pretty clearly a big reach at the time
I’m not clear what happened to John Collins, hard to think of a guy who showed so much early promise and just fizzled (for what it’s worth, right or wrong, I think he uniquely hates the Trae Young experience). He avaeraged 3+ offensive boards per 36 as a rookie, 4 the next year, now…one!?
I like Okongwu so much I think they should consider getting out of the Capela business (no offense to him), and Griffin and Jalen Johnson appear to have something at least?
Jimmy Butler is unbelievable what the heck man
Bud was lucky not to get fired on the podium
100% right. Bucks were out of sorts in 4th quarter yet again. In regulation with 2 up, you remove your best defender. If Lopez is down low, there is no way Butler gets the push and the shot to tie the game Then in OT, you keep the 2 timeouts for next season and do not call one to set the final shot. Result: nobody knows what to do and who takes the shot. But worst of all, everybody knows the ball will be in Butlers hands. Spo knows Giannis will drive. Yet, Spo has a plan to swarm him, and even if the ref calls a foul, at best he will split. Bud lets Butler drive.
Awful coaching…
He is. As good as he is, Bud is making him even better with his coaching decisions. Who on earth will challenge in the first quarter? If he had that challenge handy when he needed it, the outcome might have been different.
Question: In regulation, could he challenge Butlers tying shot on the push?
Blatant push off, but Jimmy Butler is a DOG. If I needed to field a starting five to win one game, Jimmy Butler is definitely in my lineup.
I love Giannis. The most mentally healthy superstar I think I’ve ever seen.
Once again, playoff Jimmy strikes.
Awful coach. He owes his title to Kevin Durant’s toe and an Antetekuompo. He has the best perimeter defender in the league, the best rim protector, best help defender, best overall defense….and his side is getting f$cking torched by the Miami Heat of all teams because he plays schemes that don’t match his opponent at all.
Spo handed his @ss to the unemployment line.
Edit: oh yeah, Jimmy Butler. I think at this point, Jimmy Butler should be getting real accolades about being one of the top 5 players in the league. His presence has been felt in the playoffs, how many years now? With a team that’s not very impressive, against the East’s best players, year after year. He impacts winning so much, I think I’d put him above flashier stars such as Tatum or even Doncic.
Butler has ALL the dawgs in him.
Playoff Jimmy is top 2, and not #2. Regular season Jimmy is an all-star level player, but doesn’t get the numbers of the Lukas and Tatums. He gets bumped up a bit because his troll game is all world though.
Playoff Jimmy has had his share of clunkers. See 2021 vs. Bucks
